Is a political statement made against Paul Ryan? Why isn’t Ryan on this committee? He’s been the Republican point man on budget issues, and has taken a lot of incoming fire from the liberal side.

“Is a political statement made against Paul Ryan?”

He hasn’t learned to don the RINO regalia yet.

The Grand Old Potty has it’s standards.

Possibly, but it could also be protection.

This is an ABSOLUTELY no win position. The members will be slagged across the political spectrum, and when they finish, the best that will emerge is a camel (and an ugly one at that).

I can't imagine anyone that thinks they have a bigger future ahead of them wanting to be mixed up with this losing proposition,

Are any of Boehner's or McConnell's picks identified with the Tea Party? That would be my guess as to why Paul Ryan wasn't picked.

I see the failure to include Paul Ryan or Eric Cantor as Boehner’s belated birfday gift to petulant little Barry

My first thought too. Why not Ryan. He is a budget genius.

I have a bad feeling about this. I hope the GOP realizes if they vote to increase taxes, they are dead to me.

Maybe Ryan did not want to be on it fearing that he would become the issue.

FULL TEXT: Paul Ryan Releases Statement Praising Boehner’s Super Committee Picks, Says He Asked to Not Be Considered
,br>In anticipation of the House selections for its GOP super committee members, many people expected Rep. Paul Ryan’s name to be on the list of three. However, Wednesday’s big reveal showed Reps. Hensarling, Upton and Camp as Speaker Boehner’s picks. Ryan recently released the following statement, in which he says he asked the Speaker to not consider him for inclusion on the committee.

“The Speaker has chosen three excellent Republican members to serve on this Joint Committee in Chairmen Hensarling, Upton and Camp. I asked the Speaker not to consider me for the Joint Committee, because only the Budget Committee can write legislation to reform the budget process. As Budget Committee chairman, my plan has long been to work on this critical issue throughout the fall. This past year has shown that the federal budget process is more broken than ever and needs to be reformed. If we are truly going to put the country’s fiscal house in order, it will not be enough to temporarily reduce what Washington spends. We must permanently reform the process by which working Americans’ hard-earned tax dollars are spent.

“The House Budget Committee plans to complement the Joint Committee’s work this fall by holding hearings and marking up legislation to put in place common-sense controls that stop the spending spree in Washington. As things stand, the budget process is stacked in favor of those who want to chase ever-higher spending with ever-higher taxes. In addition to cutting spending by $6.2 trillion in The Path to Prosperity, the Budget Committee will take action to reform our broken budget process in order to bring spending, deficits and debt under control.”

that would tie up Ryan..He is much better doing what he is doing...and be the point man on budget issues..He doesn’t have to waste his time with this committee work. the committee Reps can get all the points and info from Ryan.
