" what if all these foreign wars are designed by the political elite to keep us distracted?"

Worked for Bubba.

Libya - yeah - dominate the news - misdirection. (See my tag line. BTW, the Libya fiasco is really raw with me. One of the first people killed there was very dear to our family - and our troops.)

The 24/7 coverage and haggling on the debt debacle? Well, It sure pushed Issa's hearings on "Fast and Furious" gun running out of the news, didn't it?

Now all is quiet on that front as far as news coverage. Looks like they're going to skate.

It seems that anytime the governing elite begins to feel pressure there is some kind of distraction. I know that situations can and do arise that need our military intervention, but it seems we are very slow in dispensing our solutions, as if someone is benefiting from dragging things out.

I am sorry to hear about your friend. A boy down the street from me joined the Marines about two years ago and is in Afghanistan. Not a day goes by without me thinking of him, and I get angry as hell when returning vets tell me about the ridiculous rules of engagement they have to follow.

We should always be asking questions of our political leadership. For instance, when we know we can not trust them to live by a budget deal and make future cuts, why would we ever trust these same politicians with our most precious treasure, which is our children? Yet, these same elitist politicians cry wolf about a foreign danger and so many of us automatically throw our support behind them. Liars are liars, and if you can't trust them on a simple budget deal why would you trust them on something as final and deadly as warfare? We must always ask questions.
