Obama always mentions how much he is like Reagan too....

Hell, I’m a lot like Reagan, I have two legs, two arms, two hands, two eyes and so did Reagan....

Rick Perry:

"As a compassionate state, we know that for our children to succeed, they must not only be healthy, but educated.

The future leaders of our two nations are learning their fractions and their ABC’s in classrooms all along this border. Immigrants from around the world are being taught in Texas classrooms, and our history is rich with examples of new citizens who have made great contributions.

"We must say to everyTexas child learning in a Texas classroom, “we don’t care where you come from, but where you are going, and we are going to do everything we can to help you get there.” And that vision must include the children of undocumented workers.

"That’s why Texas took the national lead in allowing such deserving young minds to attend a Texas college at a resident rate. Those young minds are a part of a new generation of leaders, the doors of higher education must be open to them. The message is simple: educacion es el futuro, y si se puede."

He is not conservative at all.

Who is Rick Perry? - Part II: A Texas governor’s pro-life legacy

Perry's signed bills against human trafficking (HB 1372, 4008 & SB 11 of '07), on increased border security (TX Rangers on the border; HB1 of '07), for tougher employer sanctions (HB 1196 of '07), on document fraud (HB 126 of '07) and signed Voter ID. Source: http://www.txcc.org/illegal-immigration & Reuters (Voter ID signing)

Perry also got a ban on driver's licenses for illegals too (SB 1). ID measure passed quietly, while sanctuary cities bill died noisily

Texas has seen its Debt to GDP ratio drop under Perry even now. It was almost 23% a few years ago, now it's 18% and dropping.

Watch the debt clock for Texas. Spending is dropping, debt is dropping, debt to gdp is dropping. Revenues and GDP are increasing.

Texas S&P credit rating increased in part because it still has money in a rainy day fund, the state economy is growing despite Obamanomics and budgets are under control.

Rick Perry, Nikki Haley push cut, cap and balance pledge

Rick Perry backs abortion, balanced budget [and marriage] amendments

You're so right! It's clear Perry's not conservative at all he's just Romney with a Texas drawl. /s

Al Gore circa 1988 was an entirely different animal himself... let’s not rewrite history. Then Gore was still against fed funding for abortion, school prayer and pro-2nd amendment.

“Did Perry Even Vote For Reagan?”

Of course not. No one could EVER support Al Gore in 1988 (much less run his Texas campaign) after what the Democrats did to Reagan in Iran Contra (i.e., tried to impeach Reagan).

Face it, Perry, back then was a rock-solid DEMOCRAT - albeit towards the conservative side, but not conservative enough to bolt from the party after what they did to Reagan. It took another election cycle before it bothered him.

In 1980 he was farming cotton with his father on his ranch. And a LOT of democrats voted for Reagan over Jimmy Carter, so it’s not beyond belief that he would have voted for Reagan rather than the then-proven liberal Carter.

Since it’s a secret ballot you will never know.

My guess would be that he had a chance to vote for Reagan versus Carter, Reagan versus Mondale, and Bush versus Dukakis.

I would not be at all surprised to learn that Perry voted for Reagan over Mondale and Bush over Dukakis.

This just in:

Rick Perry backed an already-climate-crusading Al Gore in '88
