Shaquille O'Neal(notes) is blaming President Barack Obama for his role in Boston Celtics guard Rajon Rondo's(notes) late-season shooting woes. And, well ... what? Shaq's blaming the president? What does he have to do with Rajon Rondo?
As is usually the case for sitting U.S. presidents, Barack Obama has been blamed for his fair share of his country's misfortunes. Whether it's deserved or not, the buck stops with him, and anything from the escalating cost of wars to a massive deficit to the increase in price of frozen tilapia will result in an impassioned rant from the voting public. Or the non-voting public, even.
But to blame the guy for Rajon Rondo shooting like, well, Rajon Rondo?
In early March some of the guys went to the museum of Fine Arts for a fund-raiser and got to hang with President Barack Obama. Everyone was a little bit in awe. The President turns to Ray [Allen], points at Rondo, and says, "Hey, Ray, why don't you teach this kid how to shoot?" Everyone starts laughing.
KG (Kevin Garnett) told me he saw the look on Rondo's face and the kid was devastated, embarrassed. Dissed by the President, even though I'm sure Obama didn't mean any harm. Rondo smiled and went along with all of it, but KG told me he could see it in his eyes. It bothered Rondo. It killed him.
The next day Rondo shot the ball horribly. He stopped taking shots after that. He's so sensitive. I think it was a real jolt to hear the outside perception of a basketball fan who happens to be the President of the United States. It messed with his mind. I'm sure of it.

MASSACHUSETTS NOW IN PLAY!!! :)
everything this clown touches turns to sh#t..... priceless.
Please pick the Eagles to win their division.... or the Giants....pretty please.
Obama destroys everything he comes in contact with.
Good list ... but you forgot to add the Cowboys.
I’d like to see the 49ers on that list too, but they don’t need The One(termer)’s help to lose their division.
WTF! Rondo was a great shooting PG before that!
Who?
nah, I'm a Cowboy fan....... I just want him to wish Jerry Jones a long happy life..... and maybe wish Romo a long career as a Cowboy.
I'm a long time fan.... Dandy Don, Bob Lilly, Chuck Howly, Walt Garrison...that long..... and we were a great franchise till Jones got it in his head that he could be a coach and general manager. It has become more and more like the Raiders.... we're pathetic.
We're the classic team that looks great coming off the bus, but share the same quality that Romo shows. He finds a way to lose... since his first season muffing a snap for a kick, to failing to jump into the endzone and managing to choke like drowning dog in the 4th quarter or in big games... He's the Craig Morton of the 21st century.
The fact that they are so undisciplined that they didn't even make the playoffs last year was just par for the course.
Okay, that's just funny. Maybe he'll do the same for Dan Snyder ... I'm a Redskins fan.
Been a die hard Skins fan since I was kid, nearly 40 years. So I very much empathize when it comes to watching a once great franchise become "pathetic". But hope springs eternal, and there's always the next year. Man, I loved the old Skins Cowboys games. I sure do hope to one day see both our teams return to something resembling their glory days.... As long as it's my team first.
PS - I still hate the Cowboys.
I love this story.
Thanks for posting it.
Baraq truly does have a fine history of screwing things up.
The Green Bay guy who wasn’t allowed into the WH last week is probably thinking: “wow I’m the only guy on the team that isn’t jinxed”
Best Regards.
Hang out with President Obama, and you lose your follow-through.
Can you elaborate? Which Green Bay guy wasn't allowed in the White House? Do you have a link to a story about this?
