Tolls are the cost of using an expensive piece of infrastructure.

Grossly overinflated tolls are the cost of having a government monstrosity like the Port Authority running the tolls on an expensive piece of infrastructure.

Considering that Christie was about 110% unlikely to be able to privatize the Port Authority - or even just the river crossings - this is probably the best compromise he could work out.

Those with weak stomaches, or the inability to tell the difference between what can be compromised on and what cannot, should not watch, or involve themselves in, the political process.

The Port Authority collects $3.5 Billion in tolls now - in addition it is borrowing $2.5 billion more. Virtually all of that money is going to projects such as the Freedom Tower which have NOTHING to do with bridges and tunnels.

Why should I subsidize something unrelated?

Repeat: The tolls are not going to the roads and bridges..
