Same old whore in a new dress. The old leaders simply took over the key industry, elected each other to new offices and pretended to disband the USSR. It is now an oligarchy with all the old soviet republics intertwined in a security agreement, I forget the initials. The KGB just changed initials also. Georgia did not want to be part of the new agreement so Putin had a bunch of Russians "immigrate" into Georgia and then pretend to rebel while asking Russia to come in and protect them.

Well, Rubio as VP might be the winning factor with any number of candidates for #1, but he just about has to be on it. If you’ve been seeing in the last day or two what BHO’s doing by EO or administrative fiat to legitimize scores of illegal immigrants (to compensate for the major loss of hispanic voter support), our putting Rubio on the ticket would be the Perfect way to snooker him on that effort. He’s young, conservative, cares about jobs, is good-looking, charming, and a charismatic speaker. BHO would just s*** over that.
Having said that, if legal eligibility means that his parents had to be citizens at the time of his birth, without a Supreme Court decision to the contrary, guess we’re screwed - his parents, despite living here for many years and his dad serving in our military, didn’t become naturalized until 4 years after his birth. It really galls me that BHO has put out a phony BC showing he was “born here”, plus his father had no intention of becoming a citizen at all, yet it’s completely ignored. Maybe it WOULD be good if Rubio were chosen and the whole NBC issue came up, because then it would also force attention to be brought on BHO’s ineligibility.

I love Herman, and of the candidates running, he’d be my pick for POTUS. But since we were talking about the sub ject above, thought I’d include the link of West. He’s equally dynamic and outspoken as HC, he just has a different style (due in large part to his military background, most likely). He’ll probably run in a few years, and I do have to say that, as it stands right now, he has more expertise regarding radical Islam than any of the current candidates (although Herman’s learning and Santorum’s pretty knowledgeable as well).

You’re right about Russia being a dangerous threat. Putin is KGB and he still runs things, not Medvedev. Russia remains our enemy and has made a big comeback - part of the axis of evil along with pals Venezuela, Iran, N. Korea and China.
Communism in our own country and government has also, once again, increased - thanks to BHO and his Marxist crowd. Several, like Van Jones, have openly declared themselves thus, in past speeches.
Too bad that so many would laugh at being told this - they still think 1989 when the Wall fell and the early poverty of Russia that followed.
Such is no longer the case - those days are long gone and we’re once again faced with a formidable enemy. Only this time, the added danger is that far too few people are aware and many in our top leadership, from BHO on down, are Communist supporters if not outright members themselves.

When Slick Willie took office he dispatched a group of his Harvard professors to Russia to teach them how to "convert to Capitalism." The same ones working hard to convert us to socialism were going to teach them Capitalism? We know how that worked out. They simply taught them how to be sneakier and less brusk in their approach.
Communism is a terrible economic system and will always fail as such. It is a great system of tyranny, great for the tyrants but not the people. They are now trying to do both as is China. It will never work. Free enterprise, which is the correct name for our system, requires freedom. If they allow freedom economically the demand for freedom politically will soon follow. If they deny freedom of choice in the market place and stay with a top-down system they will be right back in the soup. It is like being a little pregnant, no such thing.

Given that the Soviet Union hasn’t even existed in 20 years I think that gaffe was necessarily worse. Michele is a good, solid conservative, but she is not ready for prime time. Remember, Republicans HAVE TO BE damn near perfect in order to overcome the attacks from the Democrat Party propaganda machine (i.e., the MSM). The slightest gaffe will be front-page news for several news cycles.
Re: Gardasil. I think there’s a lot of misinformation out there. A few months ago, I heard a segment about it on either Fox & Friends or Megan Kelly, when the drug was first making news (and the story had nothing to do with Perry). There was a doctor on, answering questions from the host. He said that while the innoculation is intended to be protection against cervical cancer for life, it’s only effective if received during early to mid-teen years, not in one’s 20’s or later.
Now, an argument could be made that there hasn’t been enough time to do enough long-studies (although I didn’t hear how long they’d been doing trials/studies already, only that we’re just now hearing about the drug this year).
This is in no way meant to be a recommendation of Perry, but I just thought it fair to offer the above facts. The whole issue of ANY mandated vaccinations for kids is a separate one, and an emotional one as well. I think RP was likely misguided and he probably shouldn’t have been the “trailblazer” in this instance. I do NOT think it had a thing to do with encouraging promiscuity in young girls. The innoculation offers no protection against STD’s, after all.

For all of you who insist on a border fence for Texas, please visit or Google Earth western Texas from El Paso, along and either side of Big Bend Nat. Park and all the way down to the Gulf of Mexico.
We have some areas where a fence is appropreate (mostly in urban areas) but, quite a bit of places where it’s not.
This isn’t AZ, NM or CA where the border is a line in the sand.
