The silence has been deafening from both the GOP leadership and the GOP candidates. Bachmann should be owning this issue, but so far I haven’t seen much comment from her camp. National Review is still silent on the issue and there’s not even a comment on American Spectator. There’s been a bit of commentary on townhall.com and Fox, but that’s about it. It’s almost as if there’s been a collective decision to avoid the immigration issue in the fight against Obama. Dumb strategy.

Here is my theory on what that is: Obama has very little to run on in 2012. A major plank that is emerging is racism. His team is going to ratchet up the racism and attempt to paint the conservatives, especially the TEA party, as racist. If someone oppposes amnesty, as codified by law or simply allowed via Great Leader's initiatives, they are racist. The nation will be reminded of its white guilt ad nauseum through all facets of popular entertainment. The Help and its silly nostalgia and the triump of the hard working 'colored women' and the Debbie Do-Gooder white woman comes to mind as one example, never mind the 'soljas' and their incessent rap that most of us never listen to. The flash mobs are part of the bait.

He has to get his base angry enough about something to get them off the couch to vote. He will use racism. It will get ugly and dangerous. Win or lose, what happens to all the anger after the election remains to be seen.

I think they’re more afraid of alienating the “Hispanic” vote (even though they don’t have much of it anyway) than they are of their conservative base. We need to change that.
