Welcome to the FRN Reunion Hurricane Party. I’ll go make some margaritas.

Yep, "the band" is back together, I guess, LOL. Hi to y'all... it's been awhile!

Let's pray that Irene takes a weird track to the east and blows out to sea. (Hey, I can dream...)

Oh they will blame Christie, although he has already declared a state of emergency, so the mechanisms needed,(national guard, etc) will be available

yes, we’ll get some fallout from this thing but nothing like parts south. At 350 miles inland there’s not much storm surge up here :).

...Yes it is. Been in Norfolk for 25 years, this is standard even for tropical storms. Ships have no chance tied up. Better off underway...

... My father was a Naval Officer, he did this a few times out of here and Mayport, FLA...

I saw a “Megadisasters” show on what might happen if a Cat 2 storm hit NYC. If Irene stays Cat 3....can you imagine what might happen?

In the show, they predicted flooding in the streets of Manhattan and most certainly the subway system. They also said Long Island would be a major target with more damage than people think.

The main emphasis in the show was that it’s been too long since a major hurricane hit that area. People have forgotten what CAN happen.

I have a feeling that this weekend, they’re about to be reminded

I like your dreams!!!!

Yes, although prayers might be better than dreams. ;-)

How are things in God's country, on the eastern shore of Virginia? That's one of my husband's and my "dream locations" for a future move. Someday we're going to escape from the People's Republik of Connecticut and head South. Somewhere between Virginia and Florida. No plans to move yet though...

I love the people and spirit of Texas, but not sure we can stand the heat.

There is a real potential for 65 million people to be in the path of this monster storm. Perhaps if everyone simultaneously takes a deep breath and...never mind.

During the “season” I always check your thread first. You provide such a great service to those of us on the eastern seaboard. Since I don’t get out and about anymore, it’s doubly important to me.

My Uncle and Aunt use to live at Indian Rocks and there was a legend he use to tell us about no bad storms and I can’t remember it. They never had a hurricane or any severe weather the whole time they lived there.
