I agree. I find it funny that all the pundits are coming out saying that Romney is the only one who can beat Obama. HELLO! What planet are they on? The economy is the first priority of the majority of Americans this election and this is Gov Perry’s biggest strengths.

Heck, Romney couldn’t even win the nomination last election cycle and he’s supposed to be the one to take down Obama?? I don’t think so.

Gov. Perry Received Defender of Jerusalem Award Thursday, August 13, 2009

****** June 29, 2011: ...."Perry wrote in a letter dated Wednesday, “According to numerous recent media reports, American citizens and organizations, together with a coalition of violent anti-Israeli organizations from other countries, have organized efforts to breach Israel’s Maritime blockade of the Gaza Strip as early as this week.”

He continued, “The act of funding, supporting, organizing and engaging in these efforts appears to constitute participation in a naval expedition against a people with whom the United States is at peace,” as well as material support or resources to a foreign terrorist organization and other violations.

Perry said at least two of the ships are registered in Delaware, including one named “The Audacity of Hope,” which was the title of President Barack Obama’s second book.

The letter concludes, “I respectfully request that the U.S. Department of Justice take immediate steps to investigate, enjoin and bring to justice all parties found to be in violation of U.S. law by their participation in these efforts.” Source

Cincinnatus' Wife,

This is a very interesting article.

One one hand, it speaks highly of Rick Perry's outspoken and consistent conservatism.

From: http://www.ft.com/intl/cms/s/0/87520caa-c987-11e0-9eb8-00144feabdc0.html#axzz1VhYfIrqY

Texas, a huge economy in its own right, is a militantly low-tax, small-government state, and it has outperformed the rest of the US in job creation. That gives its three-term governor strong credentials. Progressive commentators only underscore the achievement by impaling themselves on the Texan record: their objections are useless. Mr Perry is also a faith-forward social conservative, which appeals to much of the GOP base, and he is at home with Tea Party extremism. He has the track record and he is ideologically correct: he is exactly what many Republicans want.

At his best, moreover, he is a brilliant politician.

On the other hand, the author of the article seems to think it may be hard for moderate Republicans and centrists to vote for Rick Perry due to his outspoken conservative principles, moral stands, and additional strength through his faith.

From: http://www.ft.com/intl/cms/s/0/87520caa-c987-11e0-9eb8-00144feabdc0.html#axzz1VhYfIrqY

Reagan was a conservative, but he wore his convictions lightly.

That was the core of his centrist appeal and a condition for his 1980 landslide.

So the "unelectable appeal" the author feels Rick Perry has is that Rick Perry is a head-strong, strong-willed, God-living conservative.

Time will tell what our country is really like these days, but if polls indicate the pulse of America after a distressing and destructive Obama administration, I think the appeal of conservatism IS electable and will win this time around.

No, that is not true. You have NO idea what’s going to come out against the GOP nominee by the left. Staying power is the key here. There are only two that can stand up against what will be thrown at them...either Perry or Palin.

IF they’d used guns on the rioters...it’d been over in one night....they’ll issue to some of their police teams but obviously the regular coppers aren’t allowed to use or have a gun.

I can’t figure out Romney’s appeal. He is an extremely rich man who backed socialized medicine in Massachusetts (That alone should be enough to put him down as a RHINO.) Perhaps, the MSM think that he is a candidate that O can beat.

I think Perry/Palin or Palin/Perry would ream the Dems a new tochus. Don’t let the MSM choose our candidate.

Meanwhile Rick Perry, governor of Texas, who scares swing voters as much as he thrills his party’s conservative base, has vaulted to the front of the Republican nomination race.

The media/leftists/DC GOP establishment dinosaurs are hoping repitition of this lie will somehow become truth.

There is no reason to think this would be accurate as his record is fairly moderate, and his views are the same as the majority of Americans on almost every issue. If anything, he is to the left of majority opinion on immigration. He is a great fit for the mood of the nation. He carries the spirit of the tea party with rock-ribbed experience in running a large state.

I totally agree! But, you, I, and millions of average Americans are desperate to get this direction reversed as quickly as possible. The fight is not only going to be against the socialists, but also against the RINOs and establishment of both parties. It’s going to take an unbelievable effort and determination to move this mountain of sloth without being corrupted into submission along the way. That is where we need (’must’) select the right leader to launch this effort. I know that many sincere similar like-minded folks are supporting Perry to be our ‘leader’ in this fight, but I have serious reservations and severe doubts that he will act with deep conviction and determination on behalf of ‘average’ Americans in this regard, based on his record. Contrast that with Sarah Palin’s record who made a living in fighting the entrenched interests from BOTH parties!

Interesting take. Makes sense; will have to think this over.

Florida crime with guns was very high; people were then allowed to carry guns. (I think - concealed carry - I think.)

Criminals targeted foreign folks because they knew they did not have guns having traveled on international flights with no guns. Plus they had accents usually and drove rented cars, especially rented around airport.

Basically, sitting ducks.

Something like that.

“An armed society is a polite society.”

Just sayin’.

Actually, I think analysts give too much credence to the independents.

Most wins these past few decades have been due to better get out the vote drives for the politician's followers.

In 2008 McCain had almost as many votes as Bush did in 2004 and more than either Gore or Bush got (separately—not combined!) in 2000.

Obama did a very good job energizing his base and getting out the vote in 2008. That won't happen in 2012. The continued economic situation is going to suppress his base, mark my words. People know who he is now. This is not an historic election this time.

Can we be as energized for Perry in 2012 as Obama’s voters were for Obama in 2008?

That is the question!
