This movie, "The Help" has been written, filmed and distributed with the sole purpose of inciting violence at a politically fragil time in this country. Yes, some of the events in the movie occurred, but it is nowhere representative of society as a whole.
As a matter of fact, the historical background of a lot of leading Democrats would tie directly to this film, but getting the general public to notice that at this time would be futile. Some unbelievably emotional scenes exist in this movie to denigrate white society to the fullest.
I can not believe the timing of the release of this film. The primary "evil" white woman character could very easily be a young Nancy Pelosi. Whoever has decided to release such a film at this time into a politically-charged environment bears a LOT of responsibility for the effects.
Besides the woman's name, the other characteristics of Aibileen could match quite a few of the black women in MS at the time. As for the maid in the book supposedly being ashamed of being Black, I got exactly the OPPOSITE impression! As for the coffee reference, IIRC, it was one of the white women in the book who made that remark, NOT the black maid. I wonder if Debbie Schussel even read the book.
As for the young woman in the book sharing the proceeds with the black maid, it was because it was ONLY because of this woman that she was able to gather all the stories. If Ms. Cooper didn't do that same service for Kathryn Stockett, I don't see why Ms. Stockett owes her ANY proceeds from the book.
Saw the movie Saturday with several friends and our grown children. I loved it.
My aunt worked as a maid for a prominent and well known family in Kansas most of her life without shame. They were very good to her and she spoke highly of them. She had a beautifully decorated room at their home for times when she helped with parties. They didn’t let her drive alone at night. They paid off her home and helped her daughter with college expenses. They paid her medical bills and funeral expenses. They also attended her funeral. I met the family when she’d take me to work with her. The patriarch got on one knee, shook my hand, and welcomed me to his home. His wife would tell me how pretty my dresses were.
My family has no shame in an honest days work for an honest days pay. My maternal aunt built a life for herself and a future for her daughter after her husband died.

It is, but what is seen in this movie is a mirror image of not only the socialist/liberal whites but also left wing blacks who today are used and use their own old neighbors to attain power and destroy lives.
All living in gated communities on the hilltops over their created socialist hellholes. All the while their children go to private schools protected from the misery created by their parents.
I reluctantly went to see this propaganda film on Sunday.
My elderly aunt and uncle wanted to “treat” me to this movie. I warned them that I suspected it was a hate Whitey film, there to instill White Guilt in people who don’t have a racist bone in their body. People who have never harmed anyone. Ever.
Sure enough, it was filled with super negative white characters, so horrible it was laughable. And the black characters were in shown in the best possbile light.
I sat there for 2 hours, while the libtards in the audience showed their disapproval of the wildly stereotypical protrayal of hideous white behavior, by “tisk-tisking” loudly throughout the film.
Well, at least I got in for free. And it was worth every penny.
I give it a FAIL.
Don’t bother to see it.
Rather clean my oven, scrub floors, steam the rugs, weed the garden.
It had a few good laughs, but only as it painted all white people as horrible racists.
Gee, I thought they were moving on and calling us “terrorists” now!

Yep, the meanest white girl, got a heapin’ helping of special pie, and from then on was called “2 slice Hilly”.
She had 2 pieces before the maid said “eat my sh*t”. Hilly said what? Maid repeated,,,, Hilly ran to bathroom etc....
Hilly was the worst character. Really nasty. The movie had it’s funny moments, and some endearing characters. But I knew before I went, it would be a hate whitey/blame whitey who wasn’t even born then flick. I was right of course. Went with folks who insisted we see it. ARG. Waste of 2 hours.
Gee, I miss the good old days when a Disney film was a real treat to see.
You know, before Disney World had “Gay Day” and “Muslim Day”.

I wish she would write more about the Help, I read the book and really liked it but I was left wanting to know what happened to all of the characters.
Back then, a it was a lot like that.
I don't recall a close family-maid relationship in the book. There were a lot of maids who were truly members of the family--not "like" members, but were members of the family.
I loved Sadie and Mildred.
My daughter in law loved it..I trust her conservative values.... and good sense.
