I haven't seen the movie, but did listen to the audio book. I can't see how on earth you think it is supposed to incite violence. It is simply the fictional representation of a slice of life of a group of 'society' women in Jackson, Mississippi in the early 60s. Being from Mississippi, I can tell you that not all white people there thought like the society women in the book.
The Civil Rights struggle in MA was a peripheral issue. My guess is that if you moved the story to Boston MA in the early part of the 20th century, and made the 'Help' young Irish girls, it wouldn't be that different.

Just concerned it could be taken the wrong way. Besides, all of us living today did not treat those people that way and certainly don't now. But, you and some others have a point...I'm probably a little too concerned these days. Seems some are trying to get something started.
