Rick Perry: The God-Fearing, Know-Nothing, Pistol-Packing Embodiment of Liberals’ Worst Nightmares
New Republic ^ | August 24, 2011 | Walter Shapiro

What Rick Perry has achieved in his inaugural strut on the political stage is unprecedented in the annals of modern conservative history from Barry Goldwater to Sarah Palin. It is not just that the Texas governor has dominated the news cycle, overshadowed the Iowa Straw Poll, vaulted over every GOP contender except Mitt Romney in the national polls, and reduced Karl Rove to sputtering frustration. All that is admittedly impressive for a first-time candidate whose name was familiar to only half of Republican voters just a few weeks ago.

I'd have given this a barf alert, but it's such a great unintentional endorsement of Perry that I'm leaving it untouched for all of you to enjoy.

As far as the Illegal's concerned, there's one part so hilariously false that it has to be quoted and commented on:

"1. Anti-Intellectualism. Liberals revere high SAT scores. That is why it is no accident that, over the past century, the Democrats have nominated for president five former college or law school professors (Woodrow Wilson, John W. Davis, George McGovern, Bill Clinton, and Barack Obama) plus Hubert Humphrey, who was a graduate teaching fellow while working on a Ph.D." (Bold face added.)

MY COMMENTS:

1) If liberals truly revered high SAT scores, they'd have asked to see the Illegal's SAT scores, his transcripts from high school, college, and law school, and any articles or papers he'd written while at those institutions. Instead, they acceped hin on faith and never asked for any of that material. Perry's college transcript has been "bootlegged" to the press. What about the Illegal's similar records, and where's Shapiro's outrage.

2) The Illegal never was a "college or law school professor." All he did was hold a 12 year sinecure as a "constitutional law lecturer" where he achieved the unprecedented academic prodigy of not publishing a sigle article or paper in his purported specialty.

3) If liberals were so all fired concerned about the Illegal's scholarly qualifications, they'd have dumped him becaue of his total lack of any real qualifications, declaring him a poseur who never published a single paper or article in his purported specialty and assiduously concealed all of his academic records.

Liberals revere SAT so long there is something for them in it, ie. if they can pass it, use it and understand it. If they cannot comprehend it, then it is trash to them.

These little princesses cannot stand an independent thinker, something bigger and better than them, and they even hate the rocks.

This is what regressionists are all about in their “equalitarianism” which blocks the surrendering of one’s assets to a bank or a better so as to get our dues. Everything degrades around them.

Regarding Perry, it's surprising how they purport to admire academic achievement, conveniently ignoring the Illegal's failure to have any real achievement, but can completely ignore Perry's real achievement of successfully running the nation's second largest state for over 10 years.

4. Pistol-Packing President. For Eastern liberals (myself included), nothing is more baffling than the desire to carry around a metal cylinder with a trigger attached that could easily kill someone.

Well, for a start, if you're a robber, a rapist or a terrorist, it makes it a hell of a lot easier to rob, rape and terrorize people who are baffled by the desire to carry around a metal cylinder with a trigger attached that could easily kill someone.

From the article...Perry said that because the coyote was acting threatening toward him and his daughter's Labrador retriever, he pulled a .380 pistol with a laser sight from a belt on his jogging suit and shot the coyote dead. He told the reporter he carries the gun when jogging because he is afraid of snakes.

Most people can outrun a snake. At least step up to a service caliber Rick, you are representing Texas!

Perry (((ping)))

Go easy brother, he was jogging. We all love the big caliber pistols but try jogging with a .45 in your shorts!

Most people don't like having poisonous snakes along the route of their morning jogs. What if he doesn't see the snake on one of these jogs and gets attacked from behind?

LOL! Sorry, just a pet peeve of mine. There are lots of carry options out there and no need to sacrifice caliber for comfort or ease of carry.

The “snakes” he's talking about are generally seen wearing the latest fad basketball shoes and a hoodie.

In that case, you damn sure better have more than a .380.

It's a rare rattlesnake that carries as dangeous a bite or is as aggressive as those "snakes." Rattlesnakes do a lot of good by eating vermin, while the hoodie "snakes" are the lowest, vilest vermin.

But, remember these are “Austin”, hoodie snakes. He probably knows his local vermin.

Not an endorsement, unintentional or otherwise, this piece essentially says Perry is everything the left despises, dumb as a box of rocks and is quite likely to give leftists a run for their money at the polls.

I’ve got to disagree. It is an unintentional endorsement from my standpoint as a conservaive precisely because it, “says Perry is everything the left despises, dumb as a box of rocks and is quite likely to give leftists a run for their money at the polls.” A candidate who’s “everything the left despises . . . and is quite likely to give leftists a run for their money at the polls[,]” is just the kind of candidate I want. Hence, this is a great unintentional endorsement for Perry.

The lefties in Austin were all upset when Gov shot that coyote. There were a lot of PETA types that called in to KLBJ when that was a topic.

From the article “Next time around, Perry might well call these supposedly corrupt climate scientists, who only exist in right-wing mythology, “almost treasonous” as well.”

Good suggestion...

See the article wasn’t entirely wrong.
