Is the Pope a Methodist?
Draws in the bees.
And only conservatives can sin.
Perry arrived early, as did former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum. The Texas governor let a media throng grow and dissolve before working his way across the room to sit at table after table, shake hand after hand, pose for photographs and listen politely to a windy Abraham Lincoln impersonator, paying respect to a state that expects candidates, no matter their fame, to be accessible.
But Bachmann campaigned like a celebrity. And the event highlighted the brittle, presidential-style cocoon that has become her campaigns signature: a routine of late entries, unexplained absences, quick exits, sharp-elbowed handlers with matching lapel pins, and pre-selected questioners.
What is also abundantly clear from this article and elsewhere - Governor Perry has ALL the right enemies (to please a conservative).
A guy who has definitely jumped the shark on a couple moves and with one foot stepping out of the Dems’ camp and the other stepping into the Bushes’.
Pass. I ain’t “agin im”, but I sure ain’t “fer im”.
How did you keep from bailing? :)
It would be fun to watch the left try that tactic on Herman Cain.
That’s true. Jimmy Carter only lusted in his heart.
Can you provide a source for your quote? I'm not questioning whether he said it - I want to know when he said it, and in what context. Context is key - I can take almost any statement out of context and make it appear any way that I want...
About average I’d say.

When are we gonna see Barry’s grades?
Right ... because the Glorious and All-Holy Barack Hussein 0bama (mmmm mmmm mmmm) got so high he could see Pluto, and didn't need a fighter jet to do it.
No way to argue the intellectual heft of that analysis.
I think Chris Wallace is a flake.
As for supporting and leading the campaign for Al Gore, Jr. in 1988, Perry was in pretty good company. Quite a few conservative Texas Democrats supported Gore in that election, among them were former governor Dolph Briscoe and Texas State House Speaker Gib Lewis.
Whatever Perry's detractors may say, Al Gore was still seen by most southern Democrats as a moderate with votes against federal funding of abortions, laws restricting the interstate sale of firearms, and in support of a moment of silent prayer in schools.
Perry says that it was during that campaign, that he came to realize just how liberal his Democrat Party had become and it was for that reason that he chose to switch parties in 1989. One only has to look at the percentage of those in Congress who get re-elected year after year in the face of the continued low favor-ability numbers revealed in polls after poll to understand just how difficult it is for people to turn from what is familiar and comfortable and to embrace what is new no matter how logical such a move may seem.
Perry's change of party came just in time to run for him to run for the position of Commissioner of the Texas Department of Agriculture against Jim Hightower (one of the most liberal politicians ever to curse Texas) whom he defeated in 1990. Was there a degree of opportunism involved? Very possibly, but he wouldn't be the first politician to see the writing on the wall and make the expedient choice and his leap was consistent with the values he has espoused his entire life.
Rick Perry's conservatism has never wavered. While still a Democrat in the Texas House of Representative, Perry distinguished himself as a fierce fiscal conservative always arguing for more austere budgets. His stands on abortion, gay marriage, gun rights, the intrusion of the federal government into traditionally state issues, the courts, and the Constitution are all consistent with traditional conservative values.
He has his flaws, foremost among them is his stand on illegal immigration, but in politics, as in life, the search for perfection is a futile, vain effort.
For Republicans, Rick Perry is the real deal; a conservative in the traditional sense, not a George W. Bush "compassionate conservative." LINK
Chris Wallace, on FOX, when he asked Bachmann if she was too weird to be president...laid the groundwork for this..
More bragging about how “political professionals” are going to use massive amounts of money to once again manipulate the American people.
Color me unimpressed.
As Rush has said so often, that is the first play in the democrat's playbook. And they have used it consistently, in every presidential election I can remember.
This starts with Eisenhower, a doddering old fool. Adlai Stevenson, on the other hand, was a brilliant intellectual. Jack Kennedy was brilliant. He had written(?) a best-selling book. Nixon wasn't nearly as smart, and evil, too. Johnson wasn't presented as particularly bright, as I remember, but he was way smarter than that crazy conservative, Goldwater. Nixon, as an exception, was just evil when running against Humphrey and McGovern. Gerald Ford "played too much football without his helmet." (He was clumsy, too.) But Jimmy Carter was brilliant. Reagan was an "amiable dunce." Bush '41 was at least smart enough, but a "wimp". And not nearly as smart as Bill Clinton. Bob Doyle, not smart. And of course Bush '43 is widely derided as a dunce. Gore and Kerry are both brilliant, with absolutely no supporting evidence and transcripts inferior to Bush's. Obama--absolutely brilliant, also with no supporting evidence.
And Perry, Palin, Bachman, Paul, Cain, etc, etc are all totally stupid. The democrats, if anything, are consistent.
We should, I think, be a little more proactive in suggesting anything republican will be labelled as stupid by the left. And reminding people they lie. A lot.
And Governor Perry should have his direct answer at the ready, which should end with the demand that n0bama produce his similar (but presently AWOL) college records.
Gore his wife led the charge on putting warning labels on records back in the 1980s. In fact, Gore had an 84% pro-life record back in the 1980s: http://www.wordiq.com/definition/Al_Gore According to ontheissues.org -- Gore had an 84% anti-abortion voting record and voted pro-life 27 times.
