No, that isn’t what I am saying. It is not too smart to put how he does it for the world to see. Loose Lips sink ships...we both know we are in a war and why let our enemies know the plan.

“You were probably adoring Bush at the time.”

Yes, I was and I drank enough Kool Aid in 2000 and 2004 to last a lifetime. I have learned from my mistakes, have you?

Perry will get us the same result. From this Texan’s POV only Sarah Palin can turn this around.

“Get back to me when you find a similar statement from the last couple of years... “

Do you think anyone in his/her right mind would have made that statement in the last couple of years? Even though Bush wasn't officially running in 2006 and 2008 he was on the ballot with every GOP candidate (in the mind of voters).

So, how is Perry different than Bush 43 (other than having better hair)?

If Einstein was alive today and ran on the GOP ticket, the Left would call him stupid also.

Likewise. But I think our party can conduct a primary to identify the best candidate without deceptively pretending that Perry thinks he’s just like Bush.

The only one I truly trust to be speaking from the heart, and who would not waver from stated positions is Palin.

Right now (and it’s early) Perry seems an acceptable choice, miles better than Mitt.

I continue to view him with an open mind to learning new things about him. One thing that stands out about him is the character and demeanor of his supporters, of which your snide self is not far off the median.

Appearance is reality in politics. The notion that Perry isn’ that sharp is begininng to crystalize. It’s a prerequisite to the George W. Bush 2.0 campaign that they Left will run against him. Perry needs to get out ahead of this NOW. He needs to deliver a major policy address of substance to prevent the left from defining him in the minds of voters.

Oh, gotcha. Point well taken.

I don't think it'll hurt Perry though since what their advising him to do is what he's gonna do anyway and since it is something that he is not only good at but seems to thoroughly enjoy.

On another point altogether, I think Perry is going to utterly destroy Obama because, like Reagan, he is an open and genuinely likeable fellow. That Obama is an arrogant jerk is obvious to everyone but those idiots under his hypnotic spell (and their number seems to be dwindling).

BTW, I do hope Perry ignores the advice to avoid posters and bumper stickers. I am eager to put a sign in yard and a sticker on my bumper for ole Perry to help build his support in my neighborhood.

Someone posted the other day they’d gotten a sign and I think a bumper sticker from Rick Perry.

“Rick Perry and His Eggheads: Inside the Brainiest Political Operation in America” has been making the rapid rounds on Kindle (#2 in “politics and current events”). This download is actually a longish chapter excerpted from a work-in-progress by Sasha Issenberg — “The Victory Lab”> — about new, scientifically-based campaign techniques said to be transforming the American electoral process.

The chief architect of Perry’s strategies — and central figure in the chapter — is Dave Carney, a hulking three hundred pound, six foot four political pro from New Hampshire who once worked for George H. W. Bush. Said to be camera shy, if Perry wins, or even if he is nominated, Carney is likely to become as much of a household political name as Karl Rove or David Axelrod.

If I were Axelrod, I would have been poring over “Rick Perry and His Eggheads.” It’s filled with radical ideas about campaigning. Carney abjures such staples as lawn signs, targeted mailings, robocalls (Thank God!) and even, to a large extent, TV ads...........

He looks so stupid. Really. How embarrassing.

Seriously, though, we have got to get our presidents out of reading books to or talking to 2nd graders. Imagine George Washington talking to these kids.

Right off the top.

Dave Carney came from the 2012 Gingrich campaign.

On my flight from Baltimore to Tampa, it was white knuckle time as we flew through a lightning storm...my innocent little 6 yr old had the funnest time on his first flight.

But in Tampa, Perry had a lot of buzz going with articles about him garnering big time conservatives in the area including a few top financiers in the area...

He’s got buzz in Florida and the inner party is split, with old hacks staying with Romney and the rank and file going with Perry.
