Hi from CT, in New England!

Have gotten early this morning my batteries and also clean a number of jugs to hold water.

Dry as a bone but traffic is snarled in the baltimore metro. The wet is bad. This thing, with the saturated ground, could do immense damage.

Waiting for a photo of someone holding a shotgun next to a spraypainted plywood sign reading...

LOOTERS WILL BE SHOT!"

I am in Louisburg, NC. Generators are all fueled up, have had their oil changed, and I have a stockpile of gasoline. My cord for the water pump is out and ready to connect :)

I’ve got some pasta, rice, pasta sauce, turkey burgers, and cans of chili.

It’s already getting very windy here.

Approximately 65 million people are likely to be directly impacted by Hurricane Irene as the storm takes aim at the densely populated Eastern Seaboard. Evacuations are underway for high flood risk areas. Mass transit cancellations, schedule changes and road/bridge closures are occurring throughout the storm warning areas. Please check with local news and Emergency Management Operations to determine the recommendations for your immediate area. Full tank of gas in the car. Car parked on side of house, away from trees.

Windows taped, sleeping accomodations in basement.

Canned food, powdered milk, some water, some mre’s in case effects of hurricane go for more than a week. (Public water will hopefully not give out.)

Fingers on both hands crossed, hoping that Ms. Irene’s hormones go back to normal.

(Am I missing something?)

Might be parking car in large parking lot in case local street is blocked by trees.

First aid kit - juist in case?

Provisions of a alcohol-related nature - Rebel Yell, Budweiser, Johnnie Walker Red?

Metrowest Boston — went to the store and bought a bunch of stuff that didn’t need refrigeration or cooking (I have an electric stove). Now I find out that by the time it gets here, Irene will be a tropical storm. So I’m thinking that it’e less likely I’ll be without power for an extended period.

Problem now is what do I do with all that beef jerky I bought that I won’t be needing? I don’t even like beef jerkey.

You can rehydrate the beef jerky in some broth and use it as a soup base. :-)

In Richmond, VA, bought some extra mantles for the gas lanterns. Have lots of rice and canned stuff. Probably not more than a thousand rounds of ammo, unless you count .22’s. A couple 20 lb. jugs of propane so we can boil water and whatnot. Need to park the vehicles in the field next door in case a tree or two comes down.

I'm heading out of town tomorrow. I'm taking my kid back to school in PA.

No other preparation for the over-hyped tropical storm.
