I understand your point. If not Romney,not Perry, then who really is there who can win and this means winning a large chunk of the independents- that leaves Palin out. Obama begins with the big states already in the bag and a few others that are dyed-in-the-wool blue and its a given that the nominee will concede as well. Like in CA, MA, NY, WA, OR, IL, CT, and DE.

Right you are! The real meat of the election will not be in the Northeast, nor on the left Coast. I think that it’s fair to say that Perry would run well in the entire South including FL and NC. The interesting battles would be in MO,IN,IA,NM,CO and NV. Right now, Obama polls below 40% in these “swing” States.
