The trendline for Herman Cain in the Zogby numbers is similar to that of the recently-released Gallup Poll. Why has his support eroded? He came on very strong after the first debate but hasn’t been able to maintain his strength.

Actually, Cain isn’t fairing too badly. He is right on the tail of Bachmann and Paul. Truth be told, Paul is losing to Cain in all of the straw polls in states like GA, FL, SC, etc. I don’t put much credence in these others. He will be fine.

Part of Cain’s problem is that to my knowledge, the US has never elected a President with no government experiennce. That may or may not be a good thing, but I think people recognize that Cain doesn’t have a shot and are just jumping on the Perry bandwagon. I like Cain but I just can’t see getting invested in a losing candidacy.

Because the Oval Office is not an entry-level position.

He obviously can't raise money.
