Palin’s Saturday Speech Still On, Tea Party Founder Says
ABC News ^ | Wednesday August 31, 2011 | Shushannah Walshe

ABC News’ Sheila Marikar and Shushannah Walshe report:

Sarah Palin has not canceled her keynote speech for the Tea Party of America’s Saturday rally in Indianola, Iowa, according to the event’s organizers.

Ken Crow, the founder of the Tea Party of America, told ABC News this morning that he “hung up with [Palin's] people five minutes ago” and “she’ll be here on Saturday.”

“Gov. Palin is a lady of her word and impeccably honest,” he added. He admitted that the organization’s encountered “a couple of errors” in planning the Sept. 3 rally.

“I’m naive when it comes to politics and what you are supposed to say to and not say and my crew and I are rookies at this sort of thing,” he said. “We made mistakes and now we are fixing them. It’s all good.”

Multiple media outlets reported this morning that Palin had backed out of the “Restoring America” event, but still planned to be in Iowa on Saturday.

Interesting. I haven’t heard of the guy before his involvement in the TP, but most of my political knowledge is limited to the IA D-2, the southeast district.

I hope he’s not trying to sabotage her.

Have you people lost your minds? The campaign/organization admitted to errors. Someone made an honest mistake. READ THE ARTICLE. It is not a conspiracy because the media is afraid of Palin or that Palin is so clever fooling them.

I am never surprised at the bait most freepers take. This is supposed to be a conservative forum but most the people around here who make fun of rino’s are actually rino’s themselves. I remember when the ultimate Rino President was in office. Everyone worshipped Bush and Rove as he governed like a modern day LBJ. Even today , a lot of them have fallin in love again and their little hearts thump for Perry. It was the boots and hat because they completely ignore his record and life. Sort of like the Obama voters. Forget record and life , they bought the lies.

How dare you inject sensibility into the mouth-foaming group think that this was a calculated attack on Palin by the MSM, Romney, Perry and the tooth fairy. /s

O’Donnell has been uninvited, so now the speech is on.

"What do we know about Ken Crow? Who is he?"

I plan to attend the Restore America Rally on Saturday. I'm driving 1200 miles. Others are coming 2000 miles! This might be a historic event. Sarah Palin will be in New Hampshire two days later, on Monday, Labor Day.

Ken Crow is a resident of Indianola, Iowa. A former Rodeo performer and world traveler, Crow has teamed with Des Moines Tea Party organizer, Tea Party Charlie Gruschow, to create a new national group.

The MSM lied by saying it was cancelled

Looks to me like they reported what they were told by the -ahem- bumblers organizers.

It is like they lost all common sense. Palin is giving a speech, they went on and on, on this forum for weeks saying she was announcing. When she does not announce in October(Go see the October Surprise threads) they will blame the media and Bachmann and Mickey Mouse. Do they not see how ridiculous they are playing self appointed Palin campaign managers?

Ha! I’m really surprised here that anyone is surprised that the MSM would take the smallest snippet of rumor and run with it before they had all the facts. Shouldn’t be news to anyone here.

The TP leader Crow who’s organizing this event has made all the egregious errors that first-timers make in doing this kind of stuff and the media sharks smelled the blood. Are we surprised they did what they did? A little awareness of that and it could have been avoided.

Are you off your head?

Multiple media outlets repeated this lie about Palin cancelling. And they printed this falsehood without checking with the Palin camp.

The organizers apparently admit 'mistakes' - but who knows about what?

From the article their mistakes seem to be about the O'Donnell booking. Or perhaps they were making an answer to a question about how much event experience they had. You don't know. It's not in the article. You read that article and then you made something up about it.

Looks to me like they reported what they were told ...

Well, that gets to the heart of it, doesn't it. Who exactly first used the highly inflammatory word "cancelled?" We don’t know. The organizers never say they said that, just that there was a mix up, mistakes were made, etc. Nicely ambiguous. Then you have the WSJ reporter. Did he/she inject the idea of cancellation? Or, as so often happens here, they heard something they could plausibly interpret as cancellation and ran with it in the story, based on a preconceived "diva" meme they want to promote? It's really hard to say, so to me it looks like the jury is still out on who, really, get's the credit for this one and why.

It is made up that it was a media conspiracy. You don’t know that it was. Since Palinista’s like to make things up as they go along how about Palin pulled out until O donnell was cancelled? How about the media did not make up that it was reported that she was not speaking as it was.Who knows what transpired to where she is speaking again?

As well as we don’t have time for these games. How is Palin unseating Obama or helping by not running or pulling into some where with her bus and bashing the authenticity of the poll claimimg the people didn’t chose? I am keeping my eye on the goal and that is to unseat Obama not dream in fairy land and make up someone is running or when. If she does she will why bash everyone else until then what good does that do?

If it were Palin in the race solidly and let’s say Bachmann was on the fence pulling into polls with her bus and trademarking her name and I were to post huge pictures of her and bash all others and act as if I knew she was running and spread false information of dates I JUST KNEW she was announcing would you not think I was out of my mind?

democrats are very, very afraid of Palin!

I wish you were right. There is no way Palin can beat the Kenyan. She is damaged goods. It's not her fault - the media made her into a nut and she will not be able to recover with independents. I hate saying this because I'm certainly a fan of hers. But I want to win in 2012. I cannot take 4 more years of el prezidente' j@ck@$$.
