California remains mired in its worst recession since the Great Depression, with its 12 percent unemployment
If unemployment is at 15% in CA by Election Day, the second Tuesday in November, I wonder what might be the chance that CA could go Republican in the Presidential Election? It went for Reagan in '80 (but he was from CA).

“I wonder what might be the chance that CA could go Republican in the Presidential Election? It went for Reagan in ‘80 (but he was from CA).” NOT A CHANCE! California is NOT the same Place as it was as recentley as 1990. Too many givers have given up and left the once Great state to the takers. SAD!

None. The state is much more Hispanic now and they vote overwhelmingly Democrat. Californians are also much more wedded to the social welfare state, and they won't vote for anyone who threatens to curtail it. Cali's unemployment rate could reach 25% and it would still vote Democratic.

The next Republican president is going to have to assume that states like California and Illinois will be a hopeless drag on the economy. The best we can do is prevent any more state aid or bailouts from going to those broken blue states. Business and productive people will migrate out and boost other states anyway.
