The Berlin Wall worked fine. The reason they had guards on it was to keep the other guards from trying to escape.

Your typical civilian simply doesn't have the resources to deal with a "Berlin Wall" situation, or with the even larger wall that ran along West Germany from end to end.

It was huge. There were no mass movements of civilians from East to West. I have known a number of East Bloc and German refugees over the years ~ they all got out BEFORE the fences went up, or they were swapped for spies.

Yes, the wall was built to keep people IN...not to keep people OUT!

The reason they had guards on it was to keep the other guards from trying to escape.

Tell that to the guards who yelled at me...when I didn't realize I had wandered into "no man's land."

As you know, the East Berliners tunneled under the fence...and had to hide the dirt.

You cannot compare the terrain on the TX boder with a fence down the middle of a city. Trust me...because I've seen both!

The East Germans nor the West Germans were Texans. We will not have our land and homes taken for “non-contiguous” - useless - fences. “Come and take it!” is more than our history.
