That's absurd. The tax on them shouldn't be more than 78% but it should be retroactive to 1964 to take into account the property and investments they've all already made by stealing from the masses.

I think it’s a great idea. Cut all tax breaks for Hollywood, close the loopholes the “actors” use and let’s see how much they can contribute.

“you get to be American”
picking a semantic nit:
actually you get to be AN American ... we are individuals, not part of some collective. at least that’s the way it used to be.

What an idiot this guy is.
The problem is that the money NEVER goes to “Reading is Fundamental” or Head Start.
Give your money away to the government, you liberal moron, and watch how much of it goes to waste.

If you can do it to banks and CEOs, why not actors and film corporations? This stymies me. The public abhors big oil, big banks, and big Wall Street, yet there is nothing but adoration for big Hollywood and big sports.
What's the difference? They're all making millions and are already paying more than enough to be considered "American". Nothing prevents Damon and other hypocrites like him from contributing all their wealth to the government, if they so choose.

After World War II, a 20 percent federal excise tax was imposed on movie ticket sales (actually the gross revenues of movie theaters). Hollywood produced a short film to attack the tax, saying it hurt ticket sales, cost jobs, and put theaters out of business. I saw this film on TCM not too long ago. The tax ultimately was removed.
Perhaps it's time to reinstate the movie excise tax to help reduce the deficit.

Having preached this for a long time, I agree with the notion that we need to start putting these INDIVIDUALS for what taxes they are paying. More to the point, anytime these lefties speak out they should not only be asked what tax rate they are paying but to COMMIT to writing a check right then and there to the IRS to pay their fair share.

Makes sense to me and they couldn;’t possibly complain because they have already touted taxing the rich and the corporations as “patriotic”.

"Sometimes even when you run an actor, you win. And I guess I only throw his name out there because Id like us to start thinking that way."
Call us back, Michael, when Matt Damon can give a speech like
this , rather than
this. Right now, however, it seems we have
Peter Sellers in the White House. For all of his "I" and "me", it seems that there is no one really there. It is all determined by focus groups.

Big oil, big banks and big hollywood. It has a ring to it. Tax the idle rich in big hollywood.
