I wouldn’t vote for Ron Paul, but I love having him in the debates to present fiscal conservatism, and explain it more fully than most other candidates would. I especially like his being there because then he can get the message out to the public without the other candidates having to risk political points by explaining it themselves.

Thanks for keeping up with these stats. It looks like the real conservatives (Santorum, Cain and Newt) aren’t getting their fair share of time.

Debate over.

Paul, Hunstman, and Santorum did not make the cut.

Newt did very well but cannot be elected—too much baggage. He’s brilliant though.

Perry, Romney, Bachmann and Cain held their own.

Big losers: Dick Morris and Karl Rove.

Perry has had a couple of very good answers, but at times seemed to struggle for words. On balance no better than 4th, behind Newt, Bachman and Romney. He may be hurt by the high expectations that had been set for him.

OK folks...
IMHO, Mitt Romney seems to have “Won” this debate, hands down.

Perry had a bunch of gaffs, more so than Romney did.

CAN’T WAIT until the day SARAH declares...

Yeah, but you have to make up one for Cain too.

I don’t think Perry is well spoken enough to make the cut. I miss Tim Pawlenty.

He's certainly better spoken than Zero and thats all that counts.

His wife’s dad delivered me. Spanked me on the @ss to make me breathe. I’m here to tell you Rick’s wife is a weirdo. But she was the prettiest thing in town, best family, all that. But don’t mistake it for dishonesty. THAT they are not.

Now switching to FNC for the post-debate commentary.

Yep, time to flee MSLSD post haste. Shoot, it took me 10 minutes to even figure out where it was on my cable.

The way Sarah has toyed with her supporters has made me think less of her. She has had plenty of time to make a decision, just my opinion.

How has she toyed with her supporters? Near as I can tell, they're all just patiently waiting. What's the hurry?

I believe it's called strategy.

You’re not kidding. These shrill idiots are attacking Perry non-stop, hitting all the talking points. Mathews is on there straight out lying again.

I loved the slapdown of the Libs when the crowd applauded Perry’s stance on the death penalty!

Newt, Cain, and (gulp) Romney did very well.

Perry was up and down but did OK.

Bachmann disappeared.

Santorum and Huntsman did poorly, and Ron Paul is certifiably insane.

Newt won.

Perry and Cain tied for second.

Agreed.

I’m really liking Newt. He’s doing better than I ever thought he would.

I agree that Newt's a dynamite debater, an academic extraordinaire. I love his intellect. But, he's never had an executive position in his life. Put him in a Republican Cabinet? YES. Absolutely. Task him with fixing X? Yes. Man on the spot to decide what to do NOW. Not a prayer.

Regards,

TS
