Romney the pro-gay, pro-abortion, anti-gun liberal from Massachusetts WILL appoint liberal/unknown justices.

I'm not a Romney fan (but still undecided on a GOP choice), but I really doubt the above. A President Romney will still need to work with Conservatives activists and leaders, including Senators like Demint and Toomey, in an environment dominated by groups like the Tea Party. If he wants to be a success, have a second term and a legacy, he won't be able to afford to move outside a fairly inflexible set of constraints defined by the Conservative Wing of the GOP.

The next two Presidential terms will likely see the retirement or death of Scalia (solid Originalist), Kennedy (moderate/swing) and Ginsburg (solid statist). Even if there's a chance that a President Romney would appoint Liberals to their positions, that chance is MUCH less than the absolute certainty that President Obama will.

On that alone, if he gets the nomination he'll definitely get my vote.

I’m not so sure President Romney will have to work with the conservatives. I think it’ll be the other way around. If Romney wins, he’ll credit it to the support he got from the middle, not the support he got on the Right. So, he’ll ignore the Right. Furthermore, some GOP Tea Party type Senators will cave in to whatever statist nonsense Romney wants. Oh certainly some will buck the leader of their party... maybe Demint, Rand Paul. I’d bet guys like Toomey get in line though. You are right, with Obama there’s a 100% chance of a statist justice being nominated. I think there’s a good chance we get a statist justice under Romney as well.

I would vote for the Son of Sam over Obama.
