The feds can’t mandate it if the states don’t take the funding for it, get it? Ever hear of “unfunded mandates”? You can’t do that. Palin took the money. That means she accepted the federal mandate for Alaskan kids. I’m sorry if this truth hurts. The fact is, Gardasil was a good vaccine. Is a good vaccine. And could save thousands of lives each year.

In United States law and politics, unfunded mandates are regulations or conditions for receiving grants that impose costs on state or local governments or private entities for which they are not reimbursed by the federal government.
Any one of many federal legislations such as the Clean Air Act, and the Clean Water Act that require programs to be sponsored by the governments of the states, without providing any funds for those programs.
The provisions in the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act that require nearly all American emergency rooms to accept and stabilize any patient regardless of the patient’s ability to pay, but do not provide adequate reimbursement for indigent patients.
