The ATF motive was to undermine the second amendment. And, it meant nothing to the ATF planners for Fast and Furious that Mexicans and Americans would die because of this plan.

The more I've thought about this, the more I've concluded that the ATF and DOJ people involved are actually guilty of premeditated mass murder and should be prosecuted for it. The only logical purpose for F&F and Gunwalker was to get traceable weapons into the hands of the cartels, have them use the weapons to commit murders, trace the weapons back to American dealers, and blame legitimate gun owners and Second Amendment advocates for the carnage. Absent the carnage, there would be no political blame and no points to be scored. Thus, the guns had to be used to commit multiple murders for the whole evil scheme to work, and those who hatched the scheme had to intend that they be so used. That makes this whole thing a mass murder scheme and the individuals who developed and implemented it mass murderers.

Nailed it.

Either it was an outright arms-smuggling operation, or a “sting” which required random deaths for success. Either means some very powerful people very high in government need to go in very small cells for a very long time.

And I can hear the rationale for this in my head. "Well, they're killing people anyway. We might as well take advantage of the situation and turn it to our benefit."

Or in the words of one Rahm Emanual: "Never let a good crisis go to waste."

Gunwalker was to get traceable weapons into the hands of the cartels,....Gunwalker was an attempt, under Bush, to find the extent of the guns going to Mexico. They had GPS or something in them and found there was NO Iron Pipeline into Mexico. A few shotguns (for hunting, defense, etc.) and a few pistols for defense sent to your uncle, dad, whatever. Gunwalker was effectively dismantled when Bush retired. Obama and his DOJ started it back up, enhanced and hoped to undermine the 2nd Amendment with it and tell everyone “IT’s Bush’s fault.”

Very well stated. This is the most direct and concise statement of the issue I've seen thus far. I hope Issa and Grassley have as clear a viw of the matter.
