Solyndra: Blame It On Bush, Say Obama Officials
ABC News ^ | September 14, 2011 | By MATTHEW MOSK and BRIAN ROSS

After spending months touting the Obama administration's decision to loan $535 million to the California solar energy upstart Solyndra, top officials took a new tack Wednesday while testifying before Congress about the company's abrupt shut-down and bankruptcy: the loan, they said, was actually the Bush administration's idea.

"By the time the Obama administration took office in late January 2009, the loan programs' staff had already established a goal of, and timeline for, issuing the company a conditional loan guarantee commitment in March 2009," said Jonathan Silver, who heads the Energy loan program.

Blaming the failed loan on the Bush administration marked an abrupt turn for the Energy Department, which had championed the Solyndra loan as a model for its efforts to build a so-called "green energy" industry that creates jobs and safeguards the environment. The Solyndra loan was so central to this strategy that the administration initially planned to have Obama personally announce it, and later sent the president to the company's solar panel manufacturing facility in Fremont, California to celebrate its work.

I’m pretty sure that the “blame it on Bush” strategy isn’t going to work any longer.

Bush didn’t make them the loan.

Dig deeper into this deal-the General Contractor, Rudolph and Sletten did the “design/build” of their 300,000 SF facility. They are big Obama Bundlers too.

I’d be curious who owned the land they buit on and who owns the building.

This whole thing is nothing buy a political pay-back imho

"By the time the Obama administration took office in late January 2009, the loan programs' staff had already established a goal of, and timeline for, issuing the company a conditional loan guarantee commitment in March 2009," said Jonathan Silver, who heads the Energy loan program.

Sorry Jonathan, but you are a lying sack of s**t and Obama is setting you up to be thrown under the bus. The problem with your BS is that it is pretty easily refuted with a couple of points of factual information as documented in Emails link Solyndra to Biden office (by Bob Beauprez):

1. New information disclosed that Solyndra first approached the Bush Administration for a loan. That request was denied during the Administration's final weeks in office.

2. Solyndra ramped up lobbying efforts with the new Obama Administration taking advantage of the billions earmarked in the new President's $800 billion economic Stimulus legislation. Company executives visited the White House meeting with some of the Administration's most highly placed officials. Those visits included four by a principle investor in Solyndra that was also a major contributor and bundler for Obama's 2008 campaign in just two days the week prior to the announcement of loan approval.

So while you attempt, in your role of Obama/Biden lackey/fall-guy, to try to pin this on the Bush Administration, the Bush Administration REJECTED the loan application for this failed venture, and the Obama Administration approved it despite all analsyis and recommendations after a principle investor and Obama Campaign Croney personally lobbied highly placed officials in Obama's administration. It's crowded under that bus, but there is definitely a space waiting there for you.

not really...they mention it in the article here:

“Republicans pushed back hard against this version of events, unearthing internal Energy Department emails that indicate the panel evaluating the loans had made the unanimous decision to shelve Solyndra’s application two weeks before Obama took office. “

and mentioned it yesterday:

“The White House also noted to ABC News that the Bush administration was the first to consider Solyndra’s application and that some executives at the company have a history of donating to Republicans. The results of the Congressional probe shared Tuesday with ABC News show that less than two weeks before President Bush left office, on January 9, 2009, the Energy Department’s credit committee made a unanimous decision not to offer a loan commitment to Solyndra. “

SOLYNDRAGATE!

Squeeze the little guys to roll over on everybody up to and including the POTUS. Follow the money. Subpoena the Oval Office tapes. Force BHO to resign and helicopter back to Chicago in disgrace. Broadcast President Joe Biden toasting his own English muffin. Cue the Republican landslide in November 2012.

(I can dream, can’t I?)

Actually, this sort of thing should (if the Law really works anymore) result in a whole bunch of people doing a perp walk....and Biden wouldn’t be anywhere close to the end of the line.

However......

(I did put in that snivel about the Law really working, didn’t I?)
