BOSTON (CBS) – Kara Kennedy, the only daughter of the late Senator Edward Kennedy, has died.
A Kennedy family friend confirmed to WBZ NewsRadio 1030 that the 51-year-old Kennedy passed away after reportedly suffering a heart attack.
In 2009, she accepted the Medal of Freedom on behalf of her father, who was home battling cancer.
Kennedy battled lung cancer in the past, but her cancer had been in remission since 2003.
This family is so tragic. I am sorry to hear this. May the Lord bless the Kennedy’s during this time. How much does a family have to bear? I know they are democrats but all these deaths seems rather unfair to me.

Oh please. People drop dead every day and don't get beatified like every Kennedy seems o. We've heard far too much of this family and their losses, and far too little of the losses of our troops in the field and the children they leave behind. I pray for Kara and her family.

You’re right, this family is no more tragic than millions of other families. Because there’s so many of them and because they are so famous, we just hear more.
A woman who was 51 and not overweight? I wonder if she had a congenital defect of some kind. How sad.
A shame. She has two teenage children. I remember meeting her in 1980 when her father was running for President against Jimmy Carter.
Thanks...she was happily married for 25 years..two teenage kids....prayers for her family..and she was totally out of the public eye..not a hint of a scandal..
In September 1990, she and Michael Allen, a professional sailor, were married at the Our Lady of Victory Church in Centerville, Massachusetts
They have two children: Grace Kennedy Allen (born September 19, 1994, in Washington, D.C.) and Max Greathouse Allen (born December 20, 1996, in Rockville, Maryland).
Married. 2 children, 15 & 17.
She had a heart attack at a health club.
RIP Kara Kennedy.
As much as I despise this family’s politics they are cursed. Without question. Very sad.
