Shocking .. just SHOCKING!!! Government taxes a product to smithereens and then doesn't use its proceeds for the intended purpose of the tax ... surprised? I'm not.

Were they supposed to? I thought this was a revenue raiser, nothing more. Weren’t the states supposed to use the lawsuit money for anti-smoking?

When will the government fess up and admit that for over 200 years, products sold to non-indians by the indians were not subject to taxes.

But when taxes went wild, the indians and non indians alike became victims of the state. The cigarette tax became nothing more than legal prohibition....this time...cigarettes.

Cigarettes, alcohol....both women's issues.

Of course, killing babies in the womb is just fine!!!

The idiots in Albany will probably respond by just increasing the tax.

Who says tax revenues from tobacco are supposed to be spent on stop-smoking propaganda?

Ten million dollars of the Tobacco Settlement went to the Mississippi NAACP as directed by the AG, Mike Moore. Why? Had nothing to do with education or the “aims” of the settlement. The Mississippi NAACP uses the money to do as they see fit, which means they wine and dine every well. This is Ten million dollars a YEAR.

They used the rest of the money for enforcement actions and lawsuits against Indian tribes who were selling untaxed cigarettes. See how they close the loop on that?

Someone tell the American Cancer Soceity to move along and find a legitimate source of funding. The government is not going to turn tax receipts over to the ACS. They steal and they lie. The ACS supported Obamacare, too. I would not give them a dime. Let them learn what their socialist pals are like.
