This is why most people oppose giving the government more money...the more the government gets the more it wastes.

And we dont know the Half of it.

Boehner should get PWC in to go over the entire Executive Branch.

Kickbacks or over price items used to cover for purchases of booze and “entertainment” (hookers).

A the company where I work we have been under tremendous budget restrictions for many years. There are no “free” goodies at meetings. We just had a department picnic last week - had to pay $10 each for the lunch. Time for those in government to start living like the rest of us.

I’m not surprised in the least. When you are spending someone elses money who gives a damn?!

Well, that settles it.

In order to “cut spending,” we absolutely have to...

REPEAL THE GOVERNMENT-RUN MEDICAL CARE BILL THEY PASSED.

At what point are the Republicans in the House going to expose and stop this reprehensible corruption?

Didn’t have time to read the article- Are they talking about Nancy’s plane trips back to California?

It’s just more of the arrogance of the Beverly Hillbillies mentality of the Food Stamp President’s administration.

A sterling example of the “trickle down” theory in practice. The First Family Dog has his own jet transport, Nancy Pelosi gets VIP treatment including top/top shelf booze, exclusive choclates, and ultra-expensive canpes on her “private” jet - one owned/staffed by the taxpayer - to shuftie her staff and family back to the Left Coast - or wherever.....So why shouldn’t the “worker bees” enjoy those double-diget muffins and $1/oz coffees ? Isn’t that proportional ? >PS

Even the auditor’s report noted the irony that Justice was failing to “minimize” costs as required by guidelines put in place after an earlier audit in 2007, when the department had drawn criticism for serving platters of Swedish meatballs at $4 per meatball.

Maybe the muffins meet MILSPEC and can survive re-entry from a geostationary orbit.

Overall, in 2008 and 2009, the Justice Department hosted or participated in 1,832 conferences at a cost of $121 million the report said. The conferences examined by auditors, on topics from drug enforcement to violence against women, were held at elite hotels — including the Omni Shoreham and the J.W. Marriott in Washington and the Grand Hyatt in Denver — that added 20 percent service fees to the food costs.

How interesting that we’re discussing food extremes on FR this evening.

$16 muffins here

and over on another thread...middle Americans dumpster diving for their food...

and yet another thread discussing how to get Americans to eat the food the government thinks we should be eating...

When you take all three threads together one feels like they have landed in the food twilight zone.

Is this really our America?

Never mind the price, muffins!? I thought Queen Moose-hell forbade everyone but herself from indulging in any snack with sugar?

Speaking as a chef here is what my $16 muffin would include; The “muffin” would have to be more like a subtle cheese pop-over, after it was baked I would fill it with Baluga caviar, cream fresh, capers, very thinly sliced red onions.
