These carp arent bottom feeders and taste fine.
BUT fishing for them will not prevent them from getting into the great lakes. The fed needs to fill in the canal. But Bongo will listen to Chicago of course, and there goes the fishing industry on the great lakes.

Don’t know who is right.
Personally I think they need to close the canal. It was created to get sewage to go down the mississippi instead of washing up on shore in the first place. Today its of pretty minimal economic value (Around a million dollars per yer)
Personally I think closing the canal could create an economic opportunity in the form of locks or something.
I was born and raised up on Lake Erie on the North Coast of America, and we used to catch carp all the time. If you hooked into a good one, it was not unlike hooking a motorboat heading down the channel...a 20+ pound carp has some muscle, but they still aren’t worth eating unless there was literally nothing else to choke down.
