Palin Hints "Unconventional" Landscape May Allow for Post-Nov. Entry
Slate ^ | Sept. 21, 2011 | Josh Voorhees

Political logic and election law suggest that anyone hoping to make a serious run for the White House next year will need to be formally in the race by November.

Sarah Palin isn't so sure.

' The former Alaska governor appeared on Sean Hannity’s Fox News show on Tuesday, where she hinted ever so slightly that the current "unconventional" political landscape may allow for a later entry. (At the least, she has already proved that the current landscape has allowed would - be candidates to drag out their decisions much longer than one would expect.)

Here was her response to Hannity's first question about whether she was ready to jump in the race: "There is still time, Sean, and I think on both sides of the aisle you’re going to see people coming and going in this race. ... And I'm still one of those still considering the time factor."

One option that I’ve rarely seen touted for Gov. Palin is to file first, in time to make all the relevant deadlines ...

... and then defer a final announcement, yes in, or no out, until just before the first actual primary/caucus.

As an extreme example: I presume I could file all the necessary paperwork and gather the needed signatures to get on the ballot in the relevant states. And then not say a word after that.

Not saying it’s good or bad for Palin to do this. Just wondering if it’s a viable option.

Goodness. You are so impatient. Good things come to those who wait.

So say it then: "I'd vote for Romney."

No, what I said was within the Republican primaries I'd certainly vote for Palin over Romney, but I'm not wasting my vote on some dopey 3rd party candidate no matter who it is because it only helps Hussein win re-election. If Palin tried a suicide/vanity indie bid, then no, I'm not voting for her under any circumstances.

So long as you want to create a straw-woman caricature, you probably should have added “you betcha” after every sentence.

Good grief, we all watched your great God Perry commit Hara Kiri on the national stage tonight and you're posting a rumor of a hint she might have said as fact?

Go screw yourselves while we all barf now.

I presume there will be debates before each primary. By the time early 2012 rolls around, no one will remember who did well and who didn’t do well.

I wonder what the Perry fangirls would be doing since Rick crashed and burned big-time last night. Trying to cast Palin in a negative light.

Your boy would get his clock cleaned in a third grade debate.

Maybe Palin was just waiting for Perry to totally self-destruct, which happened tonight.

WHAT IS THE DROP DEAD DATE TO WIN THE NOMINATION ? CONSIDER THIS: In 1940 there were three leading candidates for the GOP Presidential nomination going into the convention in Philadelphia. Senator Robert Taft of Ohio, Senator Arthur Vandenberg of Michigan, and NY District Attorney Thomas Dewey. Each had a slew of delegates going into the convention. But after 6 ballots the convention nominated Wendell Willkie who never competed in a single primary.

So say it, then: "In a 3 way race: Obama, Palin, Romney, I'd vote for Romney."

I don't follow your logic at all, but there you have it. Again--that kind of thinking is how we got where we are.

I like her very much, but she is trying my patience, just as those endless “Going Out of Business” sales do.

Palin would not win a 3 way race, she'd get crushed and probably just siphon off enough voters to help Hussein was re-elected.

Yup. At best, the election would get thrown into the House (if nobody got 270 EVs). And the House would choose Mitt.

Q: So you support a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants? A: I do because I understand why people would want to be in America. To seek the safety and prosperity, the opportunities, the health that is here. It is so important that yes, people follow the rules so that people can be treated equally and fairly in this country. Source: Univision Interview with Sarah Palin, by Jorge Ramos Oct 26, 2008

Oops. If that's still her position, it's weak. I hope she's changed it since breaking free of the McCain 2008 campaign imbeciles. If not, then we might as well stick with Perry, or draft Jeb Bush.
