This very revealing answer to Luce many years ago explains why so many wealthy and successful people in our business, entertainment industry and government are liberal leftist (communists?).

A planned economy is very attractive to somebody with the arrogance to think that he would be a member of the planning class.

The "old money" rich do not necessarily have the IQ, energy, and drive that allowed their ancestors to accumulate the money they now live on. What they DO have are connections -- they and their lawyers know people in government and in the bureaucracies. The bigger government gets, the more valuable those connections become as far as getting waivers for themselves, and handicapping their competitors.

Another thing about the “old money” rich is that they want to keep their “club” exclusive. Communism is a great way to “pull the ladder up” to keep others from climbing into their exclusive lofty treehouse.
