Thousands of Muslims gathered in London on Saturday at a rally "to fight extremism and promote a moderate, inclusive version of Islam."

The event's organizers, Minhaj-ul-Quran International, said prior to the event that some 12,000 Muslims are expected at Wembley Arena. The group's founder, Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, told journalists that killing innocents is forbidden in Islam and Muslims must integrate into the societies in which they are living.

Those should be praised for speaking out.

“The group’s founder, Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, told journalists that killing innocents is forbidden in Islam and Muslims must integrate into the societies in which they are living.”

Is he in hiding now or just waiting for them to come?

People of muslim descent who don’t follow their religion. That’s good. Should be encouraged.

We must still get them out though. Like anyone who’s been in close proximity to an extremely dangerous virus, they must be in quarantine for an extended period to ensure that the symptoms do not return.

I see the words “moderate” and “muslim”, and am having a difficult time understanding the two words together as a coherent thought.

Problem arises when you learn that if you are not muslim you are not innocent - big qualifier.

Possibly Taqiyya from get-go. Invent moderate Islam, and then claim that it is the main stream, so best deal with them. Good Imam/Bad Imam game. Then again, it could be true. Just wait and see, I suppose.

I agree.

...must integrate into the societies in which they are living

He might mean "infiltrate." Just lay low for now until the signal comes. It would be good to know what the "moderate" mosques are teaching.

Yes, give them credit. This is what we have been waiting for the moderate muslims to say since 9-11. And it took courage.

Yes, exactly.

I wonder if evil Zionist "settlers", aka West bank Jewish babies and Grandmas, are innocent?

One must assume not until proven otherwise.

Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, told journalists that killing innocents is forbidden

Define "innocent".

Agreed, and it's too long in coming.

In the months leading up to the 10th anniversary of the 9-11 atrocities, what I saw plenty of was:

What I didn't see or hear in that entire ten years was one single instance of a Muslim condemning those abominations, or urging anything less than "Islam as Jihad."

Doubts remain.

However if you can take his statements at face value, then he must be a very courageous guy. Certainly he must understand the fate that his co-religionists are planning for him as he speaks...

Well, I'd like to salute them for their courage, but unless they gathered and said 'we are Muslims and we repudiate the koran', it seems like a fairly null event.
Their unholy book is the root of the problem (well, the root of the problem is man's natural depravity, but the koran excites this depraved nature and provides an instruction manual for executing mayhem). But if they repudiate the koran they are no longer Muslims..
So, I apologize because I am sure many of the participants are sincere, but I can't register more than a shoulder shrug given that the root of the problem is not addressed.
