Anti-biz protesters mull Hub activities
Boston Herald ^ | 9/26/11 | Christine McConville

Posted on 09/26/2011 9:39:29 AM PDT by raccoonradio

Angry anti-corporate protesters could descend on Boston’s financial district today as part of a rolling national protest over bank bailouts, joblessness and what they see as the heavy hand of corporations in American politics.

“A Boston occupation is imminent,” wrote Occupy_Boston on Twitter.

“Things gonna happen,” responded Occupy_Beantown. “Woot woot.”

It is unclear how many people might be involved. Facebook and Twitter chatter yesterday showed several people debating whether to act today or Nov. 5 — those who want to stage protests today citing momentum from the weekend’s similar protests on Wall Street in New York City.

“Our intelligence group is aware of the group,” Boston police spokeswoman Elaine Driscoll said.

“We are monitoring information in the event there is a Boston appearance.”

Groups calling themselves OccupyBoston and OccupyBeantown, whose organizers did not respond to requests from the Herald for comment, appear to be affiliated with OccupyWall Street, a protest movement that has rallied on the streets of Lower Manhattan since Saturday.

Those protesters told reporters that they are angry that they went to college, incurred punishing debt and now cannot find jobs.

Many of the New York protesters have been camping out, and by midday yesterday, New York police had arrested 80 people, mostly on charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

They would have done something in Boston the day the NYC protest was launched but it was the same day the Freedom Rally (Legalize Pot) was held.

For the protestors: Be sure to show your contempt for big corporations. Be sure to drive your big-auto-corporation car to the protest. Drink Starbucks coffee. Buy a copy of the Boston Globe or watch MSNBC. Tweet pix from the protest on your I-phone. Listen to music on your mp3 player put out by big record companies. See movies made by major Hollywood film studios. Buy Rolling Stone. SHOW THOSE EVIL CORPORATIONS YOU MEAN BUSINESS!! Down with capitalism! :)

Yeah apparently MSNBC is just a mom-and-pop operation, eh...
(What was funny was years ago NBC was protested by lefties
because their owner, G.E., made war-related stuff. btw
my own Dad, now 90, worked for G.E. as a mechanical draftsman
of aircraft engines...used for WAR!! And our now-deceased
Congressman, Nick Mavroules, was on the Armed Services Committee and helped “Bring Home the Bacon” in engine
contracts for the G.E. Say what you will about the
“military industrial complex” but companies like G.E. were
a part of it and it did provide jobs. Now NBC—actually owned by Comcast—leans
left and it’s fine for the lefties.

What do we want? New chants! When do we want em? NOW!

I don't know what disturbs me more the useless tools and their protests or this:

“Our intelligence group is aware of the group,” Boston police spokeswoman Elaine Driscoll said.

Since when have the police become the CIA?

Exactly!

Still, the Boston police have to be on constant alert for The Mooninites!

For the protestors: Be sure to show your contempt for big corporations.

Yep. These people enjoy all the fruits of capitalism while protesting it. And they would never give up the luxuries of the modern state, or if they did, it would be ones that don't matter much and then it would only be for show.

There is a graph that shows the sum total of world production and wealth over the past 2,000 years. You may have seen it. It is steady for about 1,600 years, then gradually increases a little and then skyrockets over the past 200 years. That skyrocketing of wealth is the result of Capitalism. And in the few instances where countries have experiemented with getting rid of Capitalism-- 1920s Soviet Russia, Mao's China, Dear Leader's North Korea, Hoxha's Albania--the country pretty quickly returns to the Medieval Ages.

Nothing has proved more beneficial to human society than Capitalism. These kids have no idea what they are protesting.

Yeah!
Some comments on the following
http://www.universalhub.com/2011/if-they-can-occupy-wall-street-why-not-state-stree

—Yeah good luck finding parking
—Boston Radicals? Please, in Boston our radicals have evolved from the Boston Tea Party to the Hempfest where the only thing they shut down is the Red Line when they fall on the tracks from being stoned.
—Actually They moved to Northhampton.
But, they unfortunately gave up their cars.

—Straight from their smashing success fighting Whole Foods in Jamaica Plain, we bring you Occupy Boston!
Our next move comrades, is to organize a general assembly, for all of us to come together and begin this movement!!
Workers of the world, unite and stand around on a work day. And then let’s get burritos.

And when it comes to freedom of the press, if you happen to visit the Newseum in Washington DC take a look at the world map and see what countries have that freedom and which have
suppression. So much for “big Wall Street companies control
everything”. TV, radio, the Net, music, movies—we have plenty of freedom here. Let them move overseas and see how
life is. Among other differences.

You missed the 60 minutes interview with NYCPC Kelly last night didn’t you.

Police departments have intelligence groups to collect and analyze data on potential criminal activity.

The CIA? Since never. Police depts have been getting intelligence on radical groups since at least the 60’s and probably since the 30’s.

Ever heard of the Wobblies, that was 100 years ago.

never heard of them, that was a bit before my time... From what we have learned about current police activities, the move towards military tactics and toys, talk of police "intelligence group" does not bring comfort.

and how about the selective enforcement of law? If the protesters fit a dem desirable demographic, will the "intelligence group" deem them untouchable?
