Perry trailing Romney (fourth behind Mitt, Michelle, “undecided” say likely Iowa caucus-goers)

Thanks to his disastrous debate performance last week, Texas Gov. Rick Perry has fallen behind Mitt Romney in the latest poll of likely voters in the GOP presidential primary.

Wednesday's Fox News poll shows Perry with 21 percent, behind Romney with 23 percent. Herman Cain is third with 17 percent. The poll’s margin of error is ± 3 percent. (UPDATED POLL shows Perry is fourth in a poll of likely Iowa caucus-goers, behind Romney, Michele Bachmann and “undecided.”

While one poll isn’t a trend and it will take additional polls to confirm the findings, the results seem to indicate that Perry’s poor debate performance may have done more damage to the Perry campaign than originally thought.

Perry has attempted to mitigate the damage from that debate by claiming that he is truer to conservative principles, even if Romney is the more avuncular debater.

As part of that damage control effort, CNN reported that Perry has also participated in telephone-townhalls with conservative activists in Iowa and South Carolina, where he again tried to explain his positions on immigration, border security and the controversial HPV vaccinations that he mandated.

To top it all off, Perry told a conservative blog earlier today that he may have been over the top in his description of critics of the Texas DREAM Act, walking back from his earlier comments at the debate where he said that critics of the program did not “have a heart.”

Perry supporters fail to mention his calling the legislature "murderers" for killing his mandatory vaccine for sixth grade girls.

Thank God the Texas legislature voted this down----parents were rightly apprehensive that the govt was sniffing around little girl's genitals.

Neither RINO Romney NOR Riccardo Pherry is acceptable.

The “heartless” are not happy with Cheerleader Perry's support for illegal immigrants’ children in-state tuition & rejection of a border fence for Texas.

The polls show that this is beginning to happen. Now we need to get all conservatives behind Herman Cain and he will wipe the floor with Romney.

Or are you still going to be fixated on attacking the already finished Perry?

Hmmm, good question. I seem to remember reading somewhere about a candidate who puts his boot on the neck of his competition and never lets up.

Yep, that is probably the way to go.

Perry has better hair than Romney. 'nough said.

both are RINOs, but I like the way Perry is just swinging away at the EPA, death penalty opponents and libs in general.

Now let's see who hates him.... the media, Karl "magnificent bastard" Rove, liberals, EPA, Mitt Romney, the media, Bushes (including the shrubs), the media, the Austin intellectuals, ... oh and did I mention the media.

So my take on this is that if that group is against something, I'm AUTOMATICALLY for it. Just like Palin...... in fact exactly like Palin.

What really sold Palin for me was when old "Bar"... Barbara Bush made the dismissive, condescending comment about wanting her to "stay in Alaska" then sniffed like a snotty, self righteous blue-blood Yankee.

Well gee Bar and Rove maybe we're all sick and f'ing tired of all the really smart Yankees and quasi intellectual toads from the Ivy League thinking they know which hand to wipe their rears with. Maybe all the libs, Austinites, Ivy League grads can go hump themselves cause we just don't give a rats rear what you think.

If Romney is nominated, I'm putting my hands in my pockets and shrugging my shoulders. Cause I'm done voting for RINOs.

I actually hope the SHTF scenario plays out. I like my chances and those of my family. As for the government, pffftt... let the parasites over run DC and the blue areas of the country. By the time they get to little old me, I 'm thinking there will be loads of roaming mobs in Philly, Chicago, LA, NYC, Detroit, and all the other "no go" zones that will be causing problems.

Even when Alaric sacked Rome, some Romans did alright and others.... well, not so much. I've got marketable skills that transfer anywhere there's a hospital, have passport, and pretty much could walk away with nothing but a "gee whiz" if I see the parasites and demorats eating each other for the last scrap of productive society's output and making my life miserable.

I wish every FReeper would just opt to do a couple of things to turn this whole election into a real free for all.

1. Don't buy anything new if you can for over $200. Buy used and just delay purchases for as long as possible.

2. Delay payment of all taxes as long as you can by using extensions. Legally.. don't be stupid and not pay or file.

3. Do not hire anybody at all if you can help it and your business can survive.

Fire every liberal POS that you possibly can with the help of human resources and if you're a sole proprietor... just say "bye". Make sure you mention that it's because of Obama that you're having to do this.

4. Do not buy or rent anything that supports the democrat party if possible. Especially as it relates to vacation, union hiring, voting against all municipal bonds, fees or tax increases.

Do whatever you can to screw over the print and network media with fake stories, outrageous claims AGAINST CONSERVATIVES !!! in order to make them look more intellectually challenged and biased. Such as "endangered species" pot luck dinners, race based cookie sales, race based hate crimes, anything to disrupt and confuse them. Shouldn't take much.

5. Vote out every official, EVERY one that increased fees, past restrictions on property even if it means putting in another flakier clown.. just maybe a conservative will run. But don't let any single incumbent lie, obfuscate or somehow mealy-mouth his way for "I'm the best of two BAD choices". Vote them out... example Lindsey Graham..... or any other so called Republican "leader" who sides with the quisling demorats.

Buy any means necessary attempt to file lawsuits against quasi-governmental agencies, the bureaucrats personally and any board or board members that attempts to put restrictions on property or businesses as relates to environment.

Enjoy the fight, smile while you watch them run around and pass more taxes, regulations and attempt to destroy our country. When it all goes dixie and the Detroitification of the country occurs, the only ones to do well will be hard working, gun toting, strong willed, self disciplined patriots.

good luck FReepers, it's gonna be a hoot.

Just a question I can't seem to figure out:

What's wrong with calling SS a Ponzi Scheme? That's exactly what SS has become—the only source to make future payments is from future receipts, past payments were only partially invested, and the invested portion was “invested” in US IOUs, and then spent.

Why would such a comment, which is telling the truth, bother conservatives?

Perry’s fizzle convinces me that Sarah will run. Someone MUST capitilize on the anti-romney sentiment and gain momentum before romney is able to convince the less politically active Republicans to go along with him.
