As others have said, there has always been gay soldiers present in the army, so I do not think the military bond has been undermined.
The military bond is "undermined" (broken) when some members commit perjury, manslaughter, and espionage for foreign powers, and when they riot, fraternize, homosexualize, or do other things destructive to the good order and discipline of their Service.
