Sarah Palin: Is her caribou cooked already?
Investor's Business Daily ^ | 10/3/2011 | Andrew Malcolm

Posted on 10/03/2011 6:31:13 AM PDT by Slyscribe

Eleven days before Michigan's candidate registration deadline. And we still don't know if former Gov. Sarah Palin is going, as she puts it, to toss her name into the hat.

Here's Palin's problem: We don't know. She likes it that way. It's late by contemporary announcement standards. And many of us, even those fascinated by her refreshing rogueness, have stopped caring. Certainly her would-be Republican opponents have moved on, as they should.

So, does it even matter now if SP drives her beautiful bus straight through the gates of tradition into a rogue race?

I love how she’s making the people who think they’re smarter than everyone else look like the bumbling fools they are!

The problem is that it makes Sarah look INDECISIVE. At least Christie said that he’ll take a look at his options and make a decision... which he did within a week. If Sarah wishes to run, she doesn’t have to campaign out the gate, she can busy herself with laying the groundwork, grassroots infrastructure. But she has to reassure her supporters that she is serious.

the default outcome is irrelevance and oblivion.

I tend to agree with this. If she doesn't run, I don't think anyone will care what she has to say anymore. It's all been based on her running for Pres. We don't really need another talking head.

I think she's overplayed her hand....

That info needs to be emailed to the author of this PDS article!

“But I am among the Conservative voters who has grown tired of being played.”

She isn’t playing you. She is playing the press like a Strad, however.

She said it would be unconventional and she meant it.

There is likely a MI law that has an Oct 15 deadline”

It’d be great if a freeper who is a research whiz could nail that down....

I do think she could do that! She would even get the press to cover it..... even if only to try to defend the administration.

“O”’s supporters would not even listen to the issues. I have friends(?) who completely block all the facts. They just will not budge, or even listen, and think the media support them. Most have drawn into a shell and no longer contribute or volunteer. They are now hoarding everything they have and not looking forward at all.

Needless to say I am having trouble keeping long term friends! I am happy they are the ones depressed!

I know. I hated the way George W Bush PLAYED all of us by not attacking the Taliban on Sept 12th, 2001. All that crap about "engaging our opponents at a time of OUR choosing". I hate the way he played us.

-- It'd be great if a freeper who is a research whiz could nail [There is likely a MI law that has an Oct 15 deadline] down --

I speculated that just to be charitable to the author, as in Oct 15 not being a date just picked from air. The author of the article is in the best position to divulge the authority used, for MI having an Oct 15 presidential primary filing deadline.

Once I find a source that I think is credible (in this case, a website maintained by the state of MI, recording its legislative activities), I figure I'm accurately informed, and that's the end of my chore. Sometimes, like this time, I do more by posting my finding and source for others.

Call it PDS, but...

“The most recent FOX News polls show 74 percent of voters think Palin should not run, 71 percent of GOP voters think the same, and most surprisingly 66 percent of self-described Tea Party members agree.” - Fox News

So the author is right. Many people don’t care any more.

You are right in that IBD is a quality publication. And at least once upon a time, journalists had to check their facts before publishing them.....so definitely fair to give the author the bene of the doubt here!

No trick: Christie, Palin face Halloween deadline

The filing deadline for South Carolina's GOP primary is the following day, November 1. Other states with November filing deadlines include Michigan and Missouri, which require candidates to file paperwork by the 15th and the 22nd respectively.

That CNN article isn't totally accurate either, e.g. "require candidates to file paperwork" isn't true in MI.

If a contention matters, NEVER trust the media to get it right. Find the authority, and read it directly.

The only counter to that would be if she turned it around and focused on these scandals like the others have been afraid to.

And look at the landmines and distractions she’s avoided...gay G.I., Perry’s rocks, racism, etc. Given her record against corruption in Alaska, it seems many are overlooking that strong point.

Fast and furious may be her first target. But there are so man;y it may be hard to choose.

They all seem to have gotten the same date someplace. Not that that means that it’s accurate.
