Perry Critics Defend Him In Racist Camp Name Furor

Even some of Perry's fiercest Texas critics say they do not believe he is racist. They point to his record of appointments as evidence: He appointed the state’s first African-American state supreme court justice, Wallace Jefferson, and later made him chief justice. (Jefferson’s great grandfather was a slave, “sold like a horse,” Perry once said with disgust.) Perry’s former general counsel and former chief of staff, Brian Newby, is black; so is Albert Hawkins, the former Health and Human Services Commissioner who Perry handpicked to lead the massive agency in 2002.

I have aunts,uncles cousins galore that were democrats back when Perry was.Down south back when you were a democrat and Catholic/Christian.JFK Democrats in generations of southern families.It took a long time before everyone woke up and disavowed the democrats. (As the jewish vote is slowly doing right now.)Cain endorsed Romney in 2008.Bachmann was a former democrat.Palin endorsed Perry and said she would be Romney’s VP you betcha in 2012.Perry is a former democrat.Let’s throw the baby out with the bathwater all banking on Palin or Jack Daniels or Captain Morgans saving us or the lone ranger or Chuck Norris and we will re elect Obama eating our own.

Incredible that NO ONE ever brought this story up in Perry’s last gubernatorial election, yet most people seem to think that Perry had behaved like a racist.

Cain did the right thing. When asked about it, he said the appropriate thing. He did not call Perry a racist, but diplomatically referred to it as insensitive.
