The whole world is reeling from the epic failure of entitlement state management, yet those who proselytize for this malady continue advocating the same thing. By now it should be obvious to everyone that the welfare state is incompatible with the global world. We must remember that in history failed notions do not go gentle into that good night. Instead, like the Marxist promise of social justice and a worker’s paradise, they hang on for centuries, no matter how many attempts to implement such policies fail, again and again.
In a prolonged course of failure the rulers continue to rule and sequester for themselves an ever greater proportion of the assets of the society that is failing.
