Occupy Wall Street lands on private property

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- Many of the Occupy Wall Street protesters might not realize it, but they got really lucky when they elected to gather at Zuccotti Park in downtown Manhattan.

Contrary to what most people think, the park isn't a public space; it's actually privately owned by Brookfield Office Properties, which has approximately 18 million square feet in Manhattan, including the World Financial Center. And that's why the group has been able to stay there for 20 days.

Brookfield [Office Properties, the park's owner] has issued a statement expressing concern about the conditions on its property.

"Unfortunately, many of the individuals currently occupying the grounds are ignoring [our] basic yet necessary requirements, which interfere with the use of the park by others, including local residents, office workers, and visitors," the company statement explains.

It adds that "sanitary conditions have reached unacceptable levels."

Hippies are a giant petri dish for all sorts of diseases. When medical people started to set up free clinics in Haight-Ashbury in the early 1960's they found themselves faced with a whole horde of third world infectious diseases they'd never treated before because of the filth the hippies produced and wallowed in.

Bloomie ought to get his sanitation and health departments in and clean up the encampment. If the hippies and assorted other subhumans get removed by the health and sanitation department people in hazmat suits, the scene will be so funny that they won't be able to make an atrocity out of it. Remember Rules of Radicals: "Ridicule is the most powerful weapon of all." (Quote from memory, actual text may differ.)
