NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- Many of the Occupy Wall Street protesters might not realize it, but they got really lucky when they elected to gather at Zuccotti Park in downtown Manhattan.
Contrary to what most people think, the park isn't a public space; it's actually privately owned by Brookfield Office Properties, which has approximately 18 million square feet in Manhattan, including the World Financial Center. And that's why the group has been able to stay there for 20 days.

Brookfield [Office Properties, the park's owner] has issued a statement expressing concern about the conditions on its property.
"Unfortunately, many of the individuals currently occupying the grounds are ignoring [our] basic yet necessary requirements, which interfere with the use of the park by others, including local residents, office workers, and visitors," the company statement explains.
It adds that "sanitary conditions have reached unacceptable levels."

I can just imagine how bad it smells in NYC right now. I can see why disease are setting in.
It won't be long before a serious plague breaks out. Sewage carries so many different pathogens, and these nut cases are swimming in it.
It is so rich in irony is it not? These anti-capitalists are depending upon the (presumptively unwilling) charity of a corporate landlord. Aren’t the landlords close to the top of the ones that the communists will kill first?

Seems that a lot of the idiots over at the DUmp seem to think most of the land outside the cities is owned by filthy corporations and are a legitimate target for a “people’s seizure”.
Can’t they just make them move out or get arrested? If it’s private property, that’s their right. These people aren’t tenants or anybody who ever had a legal right to be there if the owner objected.
However, NYC has a lot of spaces like this that are actually owned by private companies who had to provide “green space” in exchange for air rights or some other thing controlled by the City of NY.
The “homeless” used to nest in certain midtown lobbies and vest pocket parks because the city and the company weren’t clear about who really had the right to control access. The companies must have won at some point, because I can remember when suddenly you could actually sit in one of these beautiful lobbies (for those of you who don’t live there, the spaces are huge) and have a coffee without wearing a gas mask.
I’m not sure what the laws are now. Probably the company thought this would dissipate on its own within a few days, not knowing that it would be supported by the press, the labor unions and (today) by His Bambiness Himself.
So now the company is stuck with it and not sure what to do. If it kicks these privileged little whiner babies out, the IRS will probably come after it.

What about the health department? If you guys can’t get them shut down, what if we started contacting the health department, as well as your company?. After all, many communicable disease’s and sickness could spread through out unsanitary conditions, as we see in 3rd world countries.
What about the garbage they leave lying around? And their sleeping bags and mattresses.....NYC had a bad case of bed bugs, remember? I’m wondering if there is any way to get the dept. of health involved in such unsanitary conditions.

Unfortunately, they can't. Some kind of loophole. I spoke with a very nice lady who works the the company who owns the company and these buttholes found a loophole (gee, wonder how they managed that).
Were they protesting abortion, they would have been booted off immediately by security.
I’m enjoying the irony of human waste soaking into everything and broken trees and trampled bushes, and trash and graffiti.....stuff the aged frail pro-lifers would be accused of as a reason for booting us.
Probably because of that strange arrangement they had years ago, back in the late 80s or early 90s, where a developer could get something...perhaps it was air rights...if he turned over part of the property for use as a park or public space.
If I remember correctly, something was said about a law being passed, but not retroactive, which left them out of the loop.
