If the Founders of this nation felt that decades of political experience made for good government, they would have made that an eligibility requirment for the Presidency, and it would be stated clearly in the U.S.Constitution. They did not do so. So, they must have envisioned something entirely different.I disagree with you there. I think they felt that it was up to the people to decide.
... Why did you bring up Cain?Because he is the only one running that hasn't been elected to a government office. Who else meets your requirement?
“I don’t see Perry as being part of the problem judging by the enemies he has made.”
Uh-huh; someone-despised-by-my-enemy-must-be-my-friend may work in the Middle East, but it isn’t a sound basis for choosing a presidential candidate in this country.
I’m looking at individual candidate’s stated conservative beliefs and how that is reflected in their performance. My assessments of conservative candidates are based on how their stated core convictions, morals, and presentation of themselves as conservative, match-up with what they actually do.
Researching the background of candidates before the primary season is now a self-imposed requirement of mine. Back in March, 2008, I began researching then Senator Obama. What I discovered was alarming and led to a five month search through blogs, databases, and African publications. It soon became apparent that warning people about this guy, that he had himself, his wife, and his extended family in Kenya, given interviews to African periodicals in which they all said BHO2 was born in Kenya, well, that information was not welcome anywhere on the internet.
My reason for bringing up the past is that I’m looking at research on folks running for the Republican Party’s presidential candidacy.
None of them are perfect.
I am looking for the one who doesn’t just talk about being a conservative, but has lived that credo in their job performance, whether in government or outside of it.
In my estimation, we can do better that Mitt Romney and Rick Perry. There are months to go before the Republican Convention and I am expecting a bruising battle on the convention floor for the very soul of the GOP.
It ain’t over ‘til it’s over.
“...I think they felt that it was up to the people to decide.”
Exactly.
Whether a person has extensive experience in government, or not, shouldn’t be the ultimate criteria in an election.
OTOH, it is perfectly acceptable basis on which to challenge your claim that he is "government as usual".
If the "government as usual" crowd is against him he is not one of them.
Perry's border experience is 20 times that of your so-called "larger national experience." Whatever the hell that is.
Being accused of xenophobia from some Perry supporters who use words like “Hymietown” and go into Proustian ecstasy reminiscing over the many usages of the word “nigger.”
It would go something* like this:
'Soy hearted tan grande. Cuando I' el Presidente
de m, toda la América será fluido en Spanish.'
It's not perfect but still better than JFK's German blurb, "I Am A Sausage"
“If the “government as usual” crowd is against him he is not one of them.”
I suspect the “government as usual” crowd supports Romney rather than another governor from Texas.
It is interesting that you’re avoiding my main thesis: that the Republican Party should have as a presidential candidate someone who has conservative convictions that match their past professional performance. Why is that?
Because I agree with it and I think Perry would fit the bill as would Cain as would have Sarah Palin as would have Chris Christie.
Again, you are not going to find perfection in any of them but I think all would end up doing a job that we would be rather happy with.
Christie doesn’t like the 2nd Amendment.
Perry’s enthusiastic support of a Transnational Corridor through the heart of Texas (requiring the lavish use of emminent domain resulting in the seizure of private property) reflects his support of a North American Federation.
These acts ARE NOT conservative in origin. Both are exactly what I would expect of a socialist like Hillary Clinton.
Rick elected to educate their children residing in TEXAS, so long as they prove to apply for citizenship, are already highschool grads of Texas schools. That is a reason TEXAS rocks economicallyrather than a drag on the TEXAS economy there is an investment in productive venture with these young adults, who mostly have never known anything about Mexico.Nice try at the spin move, but you only get a 2.3
Because .... here in ILLINOIS, a few years ago we had In State Tuition for Illegals shoved down our throats and into our pockets. And all that 'access to a higher education' hasn't improved one dam thing -- Except gave the Police more work.
So don't try peddling that shiite talking point. That dog won't hunt.
BTW, Chicago isn't anywhere near the Mexican / US Border yet 'Hispanics' (Mexicans) are now the number One Race in the city per the 2010 census. I wonder how they got all the way up here? Through TEXAS maybe??
And don't bring up 'Boots On The Ground'. The Governor of the state controls the National Guard. So Perry could have had them - aka: BOOTS -- on the border from day one. No okay from DC is needed.
But thanks for playing anyway.
Building a highway is not conservative?
'Soy hearted tan grande. Cuando I' el Presidente de m, toda la América será fluido en Spanish.'
Translated from Espanol: " I'm a vote-crazed politician, just one taco short of a fiesta."
“It’s the burden of the person making the claim to provide the proof, not the person challenging it.”
Why should I? I’m not in a court. I’m sharing my first hand experience. If you guys want to try and find documentation go do the research work yourselves.
“LOL — right... “
Laugh all you want. I bet you don’t even live in Texas.
OH! If it had only been just a “highway” I wouldn’t have mentioned it.
It was part of the plans involving the establishment of a North American Federation, an endeavor not supported by the majority of citizens.
The concept of a North American Federation may make sense in two or three hundred years but not now. It should only be accomplished with the free and full agreement of the peoples of Canada, Mexico, and the United States, and not just by the clever maneuvering of elites in government. Taking the slow approach, in my opinion, would be best; let it develope naturally over time. An open southern border now is definitely not in the best interest of the USA.
Gov.Perry demonstrated a monumental error in judgement on this project which underlines the disconnect between his claim of being a conservative and his actions as governor.
I have enjoyed this conversation but have to go run errands. I will be back later this afternoon and will discuss then anything you wrtie me in the meantime.
Put up or shut up. Illinois would be the last state in the union to ask anything in return from illegals receiving instate tuition breaks there. Put your Illinois requirements for eligibility for instate tuition on the table. Then check out the enforcement of those requirements and eligibility, if you can first even find and show us any requirements. You know those Illinois style requirements are vacuous and fodder for ignoring famously. The Chicago way is not about a leg up but a hand out. You have no shred of Texas intuition in you. It shows. In spades. Back to your previously scheduled programming of rolling on the floor laughing.
That’s one of the best explanations I’ve read on the partial fence strategy. Is Israel less serious about border control than we are? Great job.
:(
Try getting at it through Google.
American Rattlesnake.
I've been trying to write more about Rick Perry now that he's in the primary, especially since he's been trying to obscure his real record on this issue.
