1968. Democrat Convention. Chicago. Riots in the Streets. Nixon beats Humphrey.
Well, this is just more of the same old protests that we saw in l968 at the Chicago convention. At that time, Mayor Daley (senior) was very tough on the people demonstrating. Bill Ayers was prominent in that demonstration. It’s just like the Watts riots, the Detroit riots, and even a small one in little Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. We were there visiting the owner of a downtown hotel, and he sat on his front porch with a rifle across his knee waiting for the drunken protesters to come up to his place. I never did figure out what they were protesting.
