Read it and weep. There is a reason he said he would consider being Mitten’s VP but not Perry.

From your post I am guessing you don't like Cain and that's fine, I like him and have heard many Perry supporters say the same thing about the "rock" answer he gave..Its easy to say he should have said.....You were not asked the question and may have answered differently but Monday morning quarterbacking is always easy.

There are many that don't think his answer was a mistake. You are quick to forgive Perry his many bigoted and nasty remarks about conservatives but keep hammering Cain on how he answered a liberals race card that was thrown at him..

The difference of opinion is making for a very interesting campaign season this time around...

When Perry first came out, he was a blank slate to me and I was not against him, I even stood up for him on some posts when he walked back his vaccine boo boo...It was very unusual for a politican to admit he made a mistake and I admired him for that, but then he opened his mouth more and insulted conservatives and talked like a bigot to La Raza to knock others with his... those of a different last name. Cain may not have answered the rock question in a why you like, but all Perry supporters are mouthing the same remark about Cain's answer..Hope it was not from a seminar meeting that those same words keep coming out.

And again Cain never used the word "racist" in answering the niggerhead question, he was quite gracious and polite in the way he took the liberal questioner straight on..

Hope we can all speak up passionately for our choice and in the end, not make enemies of each other...

You mean like perry did with his forced shots?

Yes, that is why I specifically mentioned that in my comment. My point is that you are dismissing Perry for that, but you have no way of knowing if Cain would do anything like that, because he has NEVER been in a position of power where he could do that.

You could assume that he would be exactly what you want him to be, because you can assume anything you want -- there is zero record to counter you.

I am convinced, looking at the full decade of decisions by Rick Perry, that the Gardasil thing was an aberration, not the norm, and I have absolutely no fear of him doing any thing like that as President. I can make the judgement because I can see the thousands of decisions he made, and the few that I disagree with.

With Cain, I can see the dozens of things he has said, and look at times when he has contradicted himself or changed his position, but I can't see how he would translate what he says into specific actions.

What I hear, I like (except when he is telling my Romney is a good choice, or that Rick Perry is insensitive to blacks). How he acts, I can't know. So it's a crap shoot.

I used to spend my Saturday afternoon’s listening to Herman Cain on the radio. He was on a station that had internet access so I could catch his show even though I live several states away in the north and he is was broadcast in Georgia. The man is brilliant.

I will be so very proud to vote for Herman Cain. If he makes it to be our candidate.

If you search the archives, you will find that there were a lot of people here at FR who were thrilled with him back in 2004 when he was running for Senate. Many were sure he’d blow away the competition, or at least that with both him and another strong conservative, they could easily keep the “establishment candidate” below 50%.

Unfortunately, Isackson ended up with 53%, Cain could only manage 26%, while the 3rd candidate pulled 20%.

I still find it hard to imagine he’ll do better in the presidential primary. When the average republican people get engaged, I don’t see them rejecting Mitt Romney for a guy who has never been in elective office.

Fortunately, my concerns with Cain on that regard will be settled by the primary itself. If he WINS, it’s because he overcame the obstacles I think he has, and that will be a great thing. If he can’t overcome the obstacles, then he won’t win the primary, and we won’t have to worry about him faltering in the general election.

The only downside is that if he manages to suck the life out of the other conservative campaigns, Romney ends up our nominee. But maybe Cain gets the VP slot. Which he seems to be happy with, so it all works out well for him — he gets the Presidential nominee he is most comfortable with, AND gets to be VP.

Cain is really strong on the issue of the 10th Amendment and the idea of subsidiarity, hence his answer on this.

He gets in trouble with people on other issues because of his belief in the 10th. Those who want him to push their “do it this way because Washington says so” ideas are going to find reasons to not like him.

All that said, there’s plenty of room for 14th Amendment protection of individual rights against state infringement when it comes to 2A rights.

Hope it was not from a seminar meeting that those same words keep coming out.

Those are fighting words. Cain said what he said so it should not come as a surprise that more than one person would repeat it.

BTW, Cain is STILL a blank slate to you but you don't have sense enough to know it!

You know all you want to know, apparently!

cain is a blank slate to the deaf and blind

He has appeared for many months on Niel Cavuto explaining exactly who he is and what he stands for and intends to do.

He actually made the first announcement on Niel’s show

Those blind and deaf can never get the message, especially if they are opposed to a real conservative with a fantastic record of excellence in many disparate endeavors

Perry’s “heartless” remark was about Perry. Don’t count me as one among the sensitive group commiserating in disgust. I think the reaction is pathetic.

Perry’s not a shallow thinker, and was obviously unprepared to deliver adequate punchlines and headliners during the debates. He was the target of the media and the other candidates; he was taken down, and many Conservatives fell like dominoes behind him.

I’m willing to cut Perry some slack. I think he’s an evolving Conservative. I wouldn’t say he’s no better than Romney.

As far as Cain is concerned, he needs to prove that he’s not playing ball with the establishment. That aside, he’s great and my preferred candidate. Fallible Newt should also be given some degree of consideration because he’s intellectual powerhouse that can run circles around anyone when he’s on script.

BTW, I’m not necessarily a Perry fan. We just gotta pick the best tool for the job, and it ain’t always obvious which of the inadequate tools will work best.
