Conservatives Launch We are the 53%!
Forbes ^ | 10/11/2011 | Howard Morrison

The Tumblr is supposed to represent the 53 percent of Americans who pay federal income taxes, and its assumption is that the Wall Street protesters are part of the 46 percent of the country who don’t. “We are the 53 percent” was originally the brainchild of Erick Erickson, founder of RedState.org, who worked together with Josh Trevino, communications director for the right-leaning Texas Public Policy Foundation, and conservative filmmaker Mike Wilson to develop the site, according to Trevino.

I hafta chuckle at the whole “Occupy Wallstreet” scenario. They represnt the 0bama re-election team. It might be the only case on modern history where the president is try to overthrow the people. Ususally its the other way around. :)

My understanding is that 47% of people who work pay no income tax. Add in the people who don't work and pay no income tax and the figure is more like 60%. They should call themselves "We are the the 40%".

Get a wet washcloth.

Go out to the car, truck, SUV, whatever.

Write 53%, LARGE numbers, somewhere on the back like the old “wash me” routine.

It should show up pretty good, most of us have little spare time to sparkle up the wheels, what with jobs, family and all.

I costs nothing and a lot of folks will be wondering what the heck is 53%?

Could go nationwide...

I have to confess, I’m one of the 47% who work but who don’t make enough to pay income taxes. For most of my working years, it’s been because other factors kept me from working full-time, or because I was in minimum-wage jobs (like when I was cashiering while going to college). But recently, I made a choice. I will no longer be a willing source of funds for a government that uses those funds in ways I cannot condone. I’m happy to use private means to contribute to those few programs I’m in favor of, but I will use every legal means availible to eliminate the taxes I pay, and will look for ways to minimize as much as possible those taxes I cannot eliminate.

I will also do everything in my power to avoid using government services wherever possible. I know there are some I won’t be able to avoid, such as roads, but I will do what I am able to avoid those that are avoidable. I will not be a willing participant on either side.

If the politicians won’t listen to me, they won’t get anything out of me, either.
