The problem is that in both '08 and '12, there wasn't a single conservative candidate that stood out from the crowd. Not saying that there are not good conservative candidates, but the number of them vs. the number of GOP Establishment candidates almost always will insure the Establishment guy will win.

The Tea Party was successful in '10 because it wasn't a winner-take-all race, and the MSM couldn't affect all of the local races. But in a winner-take-all race, fighting the Establishment and the MSM at the national level is a very difficult task.

Cain is ahead by double digits, he is no Huckabee.

I did worry a week or two ago about that possibility, but now that he is polling 30% + he’s got this in the bag, since Romney can’t pull in more than 25% and ususally lower.

In 2008 the Tea Party did not exist!

We let McCain on the ticket - we let the GOP and beltway insiders make our decisions.

This year there is a new age dawning.

I will not be told who to vote for this election
I will not be told that a man like Herman Cain can't win
I will not be told that Americans can't take back their Country

This year I will not whine about the establishment GOP. This year I will work to get Herman Cain nominated and elected!

Hope springs eternal!

Cain may be the 2012 version of the 2008 Huckabee:

shoestring campaign, but stays in the race just long enough to muck things up for the conservatives and get the Republican Elites’ preferred guy nominated.

Yeh, back in 2008 Free Republic was out to destroy Huckabee so that Romney would win the nomination. You are upset that Huckabee didn't try to help Romney? Huckabee was twice as conservative as Romney ever pretended to be but all it took was for the fat drug addict to call Evangelicals ‘identity’ voters for all of FR to jump on board with Romney.

The same thing will happen this time. As soon as there is an opening, the fat drug addict will trash Cain. He is too smart to come out and directly endorse Romney but there is no doubt that he will do what he can to get him elected.
