I disagree with your assessment of Perry —going down the list (guns, abortion, gay marriage, environment, federal regulation, 10th amendment support), Perry’s track record is further to the right than anyone else’s talking points.
Perry’s baggage (Gardasil, Trans-Texas Corridor, “heartless”) merely reflect that he is not ‘perfect’.
In-state tuition for people who have resided in and paid taxes to Texas for 3 years is NOT AN ISSUE. It is something that Romneybots throw out there to dissuade voters from the fact the Perry is still the one PROVEN conservative in this race.
Clearly Perry (and you) don't realize that it is an issue.
Fully 69% of Americans in the latest IBD/TIPP poll say they dont favor states giving in-state college tuition to ILLEGAL aliens while charging higher fees for legal, out-of-state residents. Just 22% support such a policy. 73% of Republicans are opposed vs. 20% in favor.
Independents have even stronger views: 74%-15%. Even Democrats are strongly opposed 58%-32%.
In fact, a majority of every major subgroup opposes giving illegals in-state tuition rates men and women, rich and poor, urban and rural. Hispanics, who have more conflicted views over ILLEGAL immigration than is commonly known, are opposed, 54%-28%. Blacks, who often see ILLEGAL aliens as rivals for jobs, are the most opposed, 80%-12%.

I am not a RomneyBot. I am not a Romney supporter of any kind. I could never vote for a pro-abortion candidate. And 69% of Americans are not RomneyBots either nor are 73% of Republicans and 74% of Independents.
Taxpayer subsidized handouts for ILLEGAL aliens may have been accepted in Texas but voters across these United States do not want it. One needn't be a RomneyBot to see that.
In-state tuition for people illegal criminal invaders who have resided in and paid taxes to Texas for 3 years
We’ve sure got some bean counters on this thread. :-)
