Onto a battlefield littered with bizarre homemade weaponry, Libya's ruling militia fighters have rolled out their weirdest contraption yet: a concrete and steel behemoth that's a cross between a bulldozer and a battleship.

You have to admit, it is pretty cool.
True enough, but I sure as hell would not want to be riding around in it if someone has an armed Predator and takes offense.
He is the Ayatollah of Rock and Rollah!
I wonder how that would do up against an M1 Abrams?
keep your hands off my unit
Somebody been watching John Wayne’s “Fighting Seabees” over in Libya?
Yeah, Sarge. Especially when the CNN footage indicates about every third fighter is carrying an RPG in lieu of the Khalashnikov. Still and armored bulldozer is usefull in clearing roadblocks or in creating alternate routes THROUGH buildings. I know that the US D5 armored dozer gets a lot of work with the Israeli Defense Forces.
“The Ayatollah of Rock ‘n Roll-a!”;)
Perfect for my commute to work! Will cut my time to just a few minutes.
I have the urge for some pancakes.
It’s a good thing that the regime seems to have fallen. Otherwise they might have learned the hard way that steel plates and caterpillar tracks alone do not a tank make.
Once I was on a range firing a M2 .50 cal. at an old M113 hull about 300 meters out. I kept seeing the impact of the rounds on the slope behind the target. I couldn’t figure out how I was missing the darn thing. That is until I saw one of my tracers come bouncing out of the open man door in the ramp. The “Aha!” moment - I wasn’t missing it, the rounds (and they were just ball and tracer) we mostly going straight through unimpeded.
A .50 is a powerful weapon, not to be underestimated for sure.
I too applaud their resourcefulness. Ok, maybe not so good against heavier weaponry, but still.
When the Zombie Apocalypse goes down, these are the guys you want on your side.
Unless it's got Chobham armor or some kind of reactive armor, it would last the amount of time it takes for the gunner to line up the reticle and the projectile to fly to the target.
A couple cans of WD-40 on the road and a molotov coktail up top and it turns into an EZ Bake oven.
Easily breakable.
Or was that M113 target hull already so shot up like Swiss cheese that your rounds were passing through without touching?
When I qualified with the 3.5” rocket launcher our target was an old Sherman tank. Most of us fired blue practice rounds which you could watch shatter as they hit the turret. The trainee of the week got to fire a live HE which made the turret actually bounce.
Anyway, all these improvised weapon systems ought to be catalogued somehow. When TSHTF a build your own at home armored vehicle might be good to have, just sayin’.
It does look like fun, doesn’t it?
Paging Heywood Banks...
One RPG later:
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare,
The lone and level sands stretch far away.
lol.
