1) Herman was asked whether he’d make a female relative who was raped raise her baby.
2) Herman said that the question was getting two things mixed up: allowing the abortion and making a woman who was raped raise the baby.
3) Since he doesn’t support forcing a woman who was raped to raise the baby, he said “it would be up to the family.” People have mistakenly taken that to mean that he was talking about an abortion instead of raising the child. A woman who was raped might want to put her child up for adoption.
It’s easy as 1-2-3 to understand Mr. 9-9-9 on abortion. He opposes government funding of abortion and will veto any legislation that contains funds for Planned Parenthood. He’s against abortion even in cases of rape or incest. You won’t get much better than that.
