After a continued refusal to clock out when taking a break to pray, Hertz axed more than two dozen employees at one of America's busiest airports.
A Hertz spokesman said he was disappointed that 26 Muslim drivers at Sea-Tac Airport chose to be fired rather than clock out for prayer breaks.
One of the fired employees, Ileys Omar, told the Seattle Post-Intelligencer: 'We feel like we're being punished for what we believe in.'
Teamsters Local 117, the union that represents the drivers, said it had not been notified of the policy.
The union's Secretary-Treasurer Tracey Thompson said in a statement: 'Hertz has violated our contract, violated labour laws, and even violated their own internal policy by not adhering to the principle of progressive discipline when workers were suspended without warning

Hit the bricks, Omar.
Righteous and gutsy move by Hertz.
“Pay to Pray.”
Guess we need to FReep Hertz with some “attaboys”. They’ll need to know they have support when TSHTF — and it will hit the fan. Most likely, they’ll be bullied into backing down and give the Muzzies the special privileges they demand.
Why should an American Company pay you to pray in a religion that seeks to destroy America?
MORONS.
Just renewed my Hertz Gold card with a pride and committment to use them every chance I get....
Hertz:
About 70 per cent of our drivers are Muslims.

Good! Pray on your time!
If I ever rent a car, it’ll be from Hertz!
Clocking out is against Islam.
You can believe in little pink bunnies but do it on your own time, not on the company's time. Them choosing to be fired means they get unemployment and can take Hertz to court for a big whaaaa! fest.
I was going to say this must be Seattle as I often fly through there are use Hertz. It is as if there entire crew is Muslim—garb and all. Last time I was there it was so bad I felt as if I was in Saudi Arabia. Sure enough . . ..
yes. If you would of seen the numbers and attitude of these folks, you would see how truly ballsy this was. How they let this get out of hand is beyond me. Should be a lesson for all businesses.
Unemployment- “It Hertz.”
Now watch them come back and ask for the former employee discount on 26 cargo vans.
Hertz figured out that they are more trouble than they are worth.
“Most likely, theyll be bullied into backing down and give the Muzzies the special privileges they demand.”
According to the article, the union is preparing to drag Hertz through Hell!
My daughter works in Saudi Arabia and she says the prayer times are just unofficial cigarette breaks. They close the stores and stand outside smoking.
Thanks for the follow-through.
Last week, we discussed the suspension of the workers:
